Eastlink open day Sunday 15 June
A once-in-a-lifetime chance to walk, run or cycle on EastLink before it opens to traffic.
They did this with the last eastern freeway extension, it was a great day.

I’m there!
should do a time trial. is the whole length open?
User Brendan and I have already done this with a few mates. We got from Frankston to Noble Park when the sidewall of our illustrious companion Dr J’s front wheel exploded and we had to run the gauntlet and get a train home. Good ride though.
Yes sounds like fun- I’ll come along.
the last time they did this they used one section (on-ramp to on-ramp) as car parking and the next section was open to all but only the outbound side of the freeway.
I’ve just read about a possible race on the open day:
There will be a cycle event, in which for the payment of a fee riders will be provided with a transponder and everyone timed for the ride. For ACF licensed riders there will be a “race”. This will be based on the time to complete the ride and not in the sense of a normal race with everyone starting off together.
For the rest of us you can ride as fast as you want to or as slow as you want to and admire the scenery. The ride will start at the intersection of Eastlink with the Monash freeway, proceed to Frankston, back to Ringwood and return to the start at the Monash freeway.
There will be provision for parking on Eastlink.
interesting. i guess they get a whole bunch of free testing of the toll system.
Nothing beats 3am on a real freeway.
But maybe i’ll keep that to myself.
Trust me there has been a bunch already, people driving round and round in circles…

I’d be a starter for 10 if anyone wants to do it fixed/ss…

I’ve signed up for the 30km freebie (Northern half).
If you’re not driving and parking, it’s ~30km from Fed Sq to the Wellington Rd onramp, or you can train it to Yarraman.
Is prior registration needed for general riding on the day? Can you enter the freeway along the line anywhere and just ride?
Rego is required, even though it’s free.
Entrance is at two on ramps near the middle of it, details on the website.
I think you can still register today, don’t know when it closes. You’ll download your number/info pack instead of getting it mailed.
yeah registration is due by today. here is the link to fill in the online forms >>>
