The Government Aircraft Factory was based at Fishermans Bend during the war and aircraft were probably flown out of there to Laverton and Point Cook. That airfield was also flown over by a Japanese floatplane launched by a hangar equipped I class submarine circling the whole city with imagery taken of the bay weapons emplacements as well as Point Cook.
