depends how hungover I am, I might be there
might bring the new steed to this.
Ok kids, Angry and I reconnoitred the MGG#2 course today. There will be a few changes to keep the smile quotient high, but rest assured there will be all of the following: echidnas, rabbits, eagles, an arboretum, spectacular autumn foliage, roads of the gravel, dirt, hardpack, rock & bitumen variety.
Oh, and plenty of climbing and descending.

There are no photos of the best roads, because we were either bombing down them, or grinding up them. You’ll just have to come along and see for yourself, THIS SUNDAY.

Does anyone know how to cure a 12 day cough after only 8 days?
If so I’ll be in…
olive leaf extract.
or just man up?
(i’m sick too, i’ll be riding and hurting)
I am pumped - riding the dandies on Sat on the roadie. Much more excited for this.
Going to chuck some Maxxis Locust 35s that I got at Ryanaid on the flat bar. They are pretty worn (no thread showing) but better than the conti city ride 28s that came on the bike. I will probably be training it down also.
That cue sheet on bars thing was my idea, take note of my genius peoples.
I’m keen.
What do we do when we get to Boronia- is it far from the starting point.
Head up Forest Rd to the start point. It’s only 3.6km, here’s a map :
Boronia, VIC 3155, Australia to The Basin VIC, Australia - Google Maps
Angry, how long will it take to do the entire ride do you think? I’m hoping to come but I’ll have a time constraint which means I’ll prob have to head off after 3.5-4hrs.
Stu
The adjusted course is about 65km. We climb mt dandenong twice (dirt both times) and there’s some moderately gnarly terrain that will slow you down a bit so you’ll be averaging less than you would on a road ride. Also the ground’s going to be wet so that’ll slow you down some more, depending on what you’re riding (I’ll be on knobbies for sure after this rain). It’s certainly do-able in four hours I would say, barring mechanicals, and if you don’t hang around at Cog too long
my bike is built up again and ready to go. see you all tomorrow unless my chainline is crazy unrideable after i bent the pretzel c-u chainring back into shape in a vice on the floor. riding to the station will be the test…
Out. nephew babysitting duties call. Have a great time everyone, perfect weather for it after last night’s rain.
Stting on the side of silvan road waiting for dudes to ride past so I can take photos. Hurry up dudes! I didn’t come out here to sit in the dirt and surf the internet!
This was fucking great. Thanks to Blakey and Angry for getting such a great combo of techy (for me) and rolling stuff. Everyone seemed to have a good time, my new bike was a dream, and I will be back next time without a doubt.
Fukk surly hubs
Great day, glad I somehow finished the course. Thanks to anyone who helped me with my many mechanical failures
Sorry we lost you Tom! Glad you made it back ok!
Tom wins the hardman award this time after having to dandy-horse his way home. Uploading photos now and typing up the finishing times.
Glad indeed you made it back Tom, if your looking for it I still have your shifter. Let me know where n when and I’ll get it back to you.
Flipping awesome day out yet again
