Hi, does anyone know what the braking surface is like on the miche pistard’s? From what I can tell from the pics there looks to be a flat surface but it definately isn’t machined. I’ve read that they are anodized and not painted so there may be a bit more grip. Looking to run a front brake on a set of track wheels and seems like the only options are fairly basic
Shouldn’t be a problem running a brake on them but it will wear the anodising off after a while.
It’ll be fine in the dry. In the wet it’ll it’ll be slow to pull up. Why not get a Miche Xpress’ wheelset instead. They have a braking surface.
The old ones used to have a machined surface, then ano’d black.
The new ones are as you say. It’ll still work with a brake, just won’t be as good as something with a MSW.
Just cut one in with a hammer and a chisel.*
*Don’t actually do this.
**Though I have done it with a file before, on some Alex G6000’s, definitely improved braking performance in the wet, and reduced squeal whilst the anodising wears off.
The pistard’s just seem like a better wheelset, xpress’ look pretty cheap in comparison
