Mt Donna Buang

Northerly, we only go north for a little bit (Don rd), and will be sheltered/in the trees most of the time, so should be fine.

Sean, Tom, Che and I had a sweet ride yesterday, forgot how great and relatively easy the climb is, Don road is harder than the gravel road really. If you haven’t gone up the dirt way I recommend it. Very cold descent via the sealed road to Warby.

Nice. Looked like a perfect day to hit the hills!

I could only muster a 1 in 20 threepeat last night… Wasn’t a bad night for a Dandenongs ride either.

Had a great ride, was nice to have another SS rider along as well. Highlights include:

An amazing view riding up the dirt road to the top of Donna Buang, lush green vegetation and lots of little streams.

SS sprint battle to the summit section, I edged out inspector chimp due to my sneaky tactics and using the 100 m increment markings to my advantage.

MikeD and I trying to out-tuck each other on the descent and swapping places a lot.

Tom dropping everyone on most of the climbs.

Zipping along the aqueduct trail, perhaps the only time knobbies were entirely suitable.

For the record I did it on 38/18 with cross tires and didn’t have to walk, I’d suggest a similar gear or a flip flop with a 17 for the rail trail and a 19 for the climbs. Perhaps swapping out for kojaks would have been a good idea if I’d been geared but appreciated the grip getting out of the saddle on the ss.

Do you only do threepeats of things! Maybe I’ll be better at climbing if I adopt this approach.

where’s the pics ya jerks?!?

search instagram for #notbeachroad and #outsideisfree

these two terms piss me right off.

Nice wheelie Sean

Nice pics. I’m even more jealous now.

Great photos.

Looks like you timed it perfectly. Snow on its way tonight and through much of next week!

Sweet!

Me and Blakey were discussing the potential for snow last night, we are hoping for a snow ride.

I’ll be taking way more clothes for that.

yewwwww!

know what I’m doing next thursday

make it the following Monday & use one of your billion sick days. then I can come.

sweet, thx.

Sick ride. Company on the up hills with sean. Smashed it down the sealed descent with slicks and plenty of warm clothes.

80 psi and slicks was awesome for the sealed descent, not so much for last few km of aqueduct trail.

Mike had his nose in the wind for the last 30km of warby trail, which was awesome for me and sean because we were spent. And tom got angry at dogs. Sick ride.

I will also head up soon on a snowy day, may just borrow my old man’s new bike while he’s at work though ; P

There was a lot of snow on the summit today.
