MTB World cup

Yeah she is awesome and her racing against Kitner was tight.

Cairns, wooooooooo hooooooooo!!!

Feel for the Hannah’s

apparently Tracey was knocked out for a couple of seconds too…
she was that fast on course with bent bars and coming back from a bad head knock… sheesh.

Yeah guts effort by Tracey and knocked back to third, still handled it with grace.

She was just so much faster than the rest… visibly faster just about everywhere it seemed. That crash looked bad on her head, massive effort to get back on and then somehow ride at a competitive pace.
Also gutted for Mick… it took a huge run to beat him. And man, Sam Hill just made the course look like a lot of fun, he looked loose and fast.

A lot of hate for the course and coverage online… I didn’t mind either. I must be in the minority when I enjoy watching these people bury themselves in a sprint to the line.

its funny because apparently all the riders loved it.

ive seen a few vids/interviews where they all rate it as a good quality track and a fair test. even the ones who werent tipped to do well on it. the sprint was key, but at that level its also about saving/managing the energy to hit it hard. diversity of courses is key…

but if you rated it based on the limited coverage available then you’d apparently have a pretty skewed view. a lot of the good stuff (micks drop, some hectic sections) were all in the thick of the jungle and they couldnt get live visuals out of there.

but you know, online idiots know everything :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, unless it’s at Whistler it’s crap. C’mon Cairns produced a great race, lots of fun, everyone loved being near the reef and coast. You cannot beat that view from the start ramp.

Is it just me, or was Fort William a bit of a fizzer? I think they need more cameras in the forest. I remember last season and the season before just being blown away every race by how close to the limit bruni, gwin, brosnan, etc were, getting loose as, but this weekend pierron’s winning run looked way too in control, the only real moment where I felt his speed was the road gap where he seemed to keep way more speed out of the tight stuff than others.
For the women, even Tracey looked steady in the shots we saw… thats saying something! I love watching her get rowdy.
Anyway, not too long to wait for the next one, though its Leogang which isnt really much rough and tumble. July-August seems to be the business, and looking forward to that a lot.
Cool the the Ahearn sibblings are making it happen. Kanbrahhhhhh!

Far out, what a turn around for coverage of the DH! Last night was unreal  Kye and Sian killing it

Neff’s overtake on PFP over the doubles last night, after trying to go round the outside on the monster berm, best bit of XC racing I can remember… like 4X in lycra with much more blurred vision. That whole race was unreal, top 5 all together til 20mins or so to go. I can’t believe how good Dahle still is. I really thought she was going to monster it from the back on that last lap… she just keeps creeping back. Havent watched the mens yet, but looking at the results I’m keen to.

both races were very excellent.

schurters last attack was all in and very smooth…

cant wait to see vdP get on the top step as well.

yeah, I really like watching vdp, the way he races seems totally different to the rest of the field, seems very assured, knows his pace so well, and handles his bike so nicely.

Val di sole and Valnord are my two favourite tracks, with MSA third and coming up soon… so the past couple of weeks have been so great. Can’t believe gunn rita this weekend… talk about domination! Really showed that when it gets really, really hard, she just stomps. And Kerschbaumer riding away from Nino, I haven’t seen that happen before really… Even Absalon bringing the pain on climbs never looked like that. Keen to see how he goes in MSA and beyond. His bike looks sick.

edit: I should also mention that the mens and womens dh were both great, too. So pumped for Vergier, and Mcdonald too, his run was sick. I thought Tahnee’s run was one of hte loser runs I’ve seen from the women too, awesome to see her cutting lose like that. I’m hoping Sian Ahern is back in action soon… she could be such a mega star with a couple of solid seasons behind her.

if you missed it do yourself a favour & catch the womens xco from la bresse on redbull, terrific racing, not too often you see a great race

Dead-set banger. I can’t believe Batty kept it together so long with Langvad carrying her bike downhill… Was happy to see the grab! I never thought Batty was really rad til this race… she’s killer.

never seen so much bike pushing in a world cup, would love to check out the course

I managed to watch it after your prompt dannat and really enjoyed it. Especially with Batty on a hard tail and Neff having the punctures.
