My First Foray into Fixed-Gear

well there ya go.

sharpie.

classic foa welcome, love it! ride safe.

Nice post, love the pics, nice bike, go on…

This little paragraph sums up the Netherlands perfectly

So, yesterday while out on a training ride, I was t-boned by a motor scooter that blew through a stop sign doing 40-50kmh. Frame is a write off, wheels were hit too, so I don’t feel safe riding on them. Crank is dented etc. Pretty sure it’ll have to be a new bike. Currently trying to get into contact with the lady that hit me, but she is not responding

aw maaaaaaan, that sucks, i liked that bike.

least your ok, good luck with getting hold of her!

might wanna read through this… http://www.fixed.org.au/forums/f10/if-you-get-hit-what-get-9642/index5.html

Thanks mate! Rather the bike than me. The Dutch laws regarding cycling safety are pretty strict, so hopefully she will have to reimburse me for the bike. Will keep this thread updated as the case progresses.

oh that’s right, you’re an aussie in holland, i thought it was the other way round! i’d imagine you’d have a lot more luck there than here (though i have no real knowledge on the matter! )

Please tell me you ended up putting a front brake on?

Not really sure how that’s relevant?

I can’t even count on two hands the number of times a front brake has saved me from complete annihilation. There’s not much you could have done evidently, however given you’re new to the fixed gear world a front brake is a must IMO and next time could be the difference between a shitty commute and a hospital visit.
