This is my customer’s. Was originally blue and geared, then stolen and miraculously someone got in touch with me, and it found it’s way back although a little tired cosmetically. It was sent back to Brian Chapman (in New England, yankie land) as the owner wanted to convert it to a single speed (dropouts replaced and shifter braze-on removed) and it was then repainted in black with all new artwork, basically a new bike !!
It’s very sweet riding … in fact it’s like a carpet glide, such is the geo, thin tubing and super plush tyres. It really has a lot of very nice parts, the owner went to town. I know he’s selling it because his work circumstances have changed and he can no longer bring it inside with him. It’s far too valuable to leave chained on the street and far too pretty to just sit adorining his wall. Even the full Buy-It-Now price wouldn’t come close to 50% of how much it actually cost. Chapman is a true artist … I say that about very few frame builders. Richard Sachs, Nagaswa and Dario Pegoretti couldn’t come close to the skills needed to make parts of this frameset … just so !! Super tricky, the rear brake light comes out of the left dropout, goes back inside the rear rack and back out where the light is. The seatstay caps are just perfection, truly special.

I was seriously thinking of buying this for myself. I’ve looked after and built up many beautiful bikes and this was right up there with the very best. Sadly, I need gears !!
