Received this in the email this morning:
"Your access to the paid subscription “FoA membership” is about to expire.
If you have selected a recurring subscription you will be automatically billed for the renewal, else to renew this subscription you must visit http://www.fixed.org.au/forums/payments.php
If you do not extend your subscription, access will be removed." (bold added by me)
Been a bit busy lately, paypal fucked up…yada yada. I don’t object to the money, happy to support the site and have donated to server costs once or twice before the subscription option came into being…but WTF is this? A bit terse and heavy-handed, don’t you think?

yeah, news to me, obviously some automatically generated email that nick has set up.
the whole idea behind the donor system was that it was voluntary, and those not wanting to be a donor wouldn’t be cut off from any part of the forum etc if they chose not to help support the site. so i’d say the change from donor to non donor would make no difference to your FOA permissions etc.
one thing that i’ve noticed though is that on the payment link you’ve posted, the following information is located under the drop down menu for payment options:
“Validity periods marked with a * indicate that this subscription is recurring.
After the initial subscription period is complete, the subscription will automatically be renewed with a new charge.”
BOTH OPTIONS ARE MARKED WITH AN ASTERISK, THEREFORE ALL PAYPAL SUBSCRIPTIONS SHOULD BE RECURRING. YOU WILL NEED TO OPT OUT OF THIS IF YOU NO LONGER WISH TO DONATE.
Apologies if the email wording offended CC, i’m sure nickj would not have meant it to be read that way, especially considering the donor status is completely voluntary and changes little on the site.
Don’t sweat it, trying to cut back on coffee and sugar…been a bit prickly lately.

pretty sure that’s a remedy for everything. all good, and i wish i could tell you whether the script was written by nickj or vbulletin, but alas i cannot.
i don’t imagine anyone will be autobanned for not renewing their donor status.
i’m not sure how that happened last time, but i am pretty sure nickj fixed the glitch that caused that to happen.
