Paint choice for pantographs and frame details?

I was going to get a small can of enamel paint from the model shop- would that be appropriate for pantographs and frame details?
Or would Autobahn spray cans be better?

IMO paint pens work really well for pantos, lug lines.

Check Ray Dobbins for good pantographing tips.

+1, Just did some K’s in Gold looks nice.

I went that way with the fork stamp on my Pogliaghi hjbster but I discovered its hard to get the paint to stick to the chrome - you need to give it a couple of goes. My technique was to paint in the grooves of the stamp, let it dry or mostly dry and then rub off the bits of paint from the surrounds across the top/flat bit of the crown.

Seemed to work ok.

Thankyou nexus. Exactly what I need!

For anyone else interested…

Coatings need a surface to ‘key’ into. The chrome is quite smooth and provides little bite. This is why bikes with paint over chrome only have the steel polished where the chrome is to be exposed. (Plating takes on the surface finish of the layer below).

Ideally it would be SA2 white metal surface finish, then primed, then panto’d, but you’ll be fine if you rough up the surface a little somehow first (not easily achievable on chrome) and then paint it.

Paint pens, model enamel, spray aerosol into the cap and use a fine bristle brush. All will work well, just exercise patience.
