So I must say that my first few days riding fixed have been hella fun and incident free (sans being cut-off by some dickhead in a four wheel drive), today I decided to ride to work for the first time. The ride there was pretty sweet and so was the ride on the way home (aside from the rain, HTFO etc. etc.). However, when I got home I noticed that my left foot started feeling quite sore (Muscles and tendons running across the talus to be more specific). I think I dropped my heel back on the pedal at the apex of a down stroke and the cranks jerked it around on the way up, is this likely the cause?
i’d say either your saddle is too high, or your body just isnt used to using those muscles in those ways and you need to stretch.
Good answer DR SPEWIS!
Ok, thanks. I’ve been fiddling a bit with my setup ironing out the kinks and things so maybe now it’ll be nicer. :>
Maybe try some stretching before and after you ride if you keep getting pain. It does sound a bit wanky but it really really helps

i hear there is a day ‘O’ birth a coming
the old rule was that if the pain is below your knee the saddle is too high, above the knee and the saddle is too low. if it’s knee problems then push a lighter gear and spin more.
also if you have long cranks (longer than 170) and your legs are shorter than average that’ll exacerbate the problem of getting the saddle height right, since your knees and ankles are doing bigger circles than they probably should be. especially for spinning!
Ah, ok, thanks guys/gals.
Went for a bit of a cruise today and all is (thus far) well.
