polo gear ratio

Hi,

I am piecing together the bits for my new polo bike.

I recently picked up a 22 and a 24 tooth cog for bugger all on ebay.

I have available to me a 32 tooth sprocket, 42 tooth, or a 39 tooth.

If I were to use the 24 / 32 scenario, I end up with something like 40 inches. is that too low?

What do most other people use? open to any and all suggestions!

i’m using 22-14 which is 41.5" works pretty good but I wouldn’t mind a bit more in the top end.

Im on 51gear inches and I find it awesome. Its low enough to get up and go but you can get a higher top speed to chase down bender :stuck_out_tongue:

odd numbers for skids!
stick on the 39 and 22, get down to carriageworks, and test it out.

(says me who hasn’t turned up to the last 3 weeks of play…)

i’m running 39/20, which works pretty well when i actually make it to a game.

also when you say sprocket you mean chainring yeah? a 39 tooth sprocket would be an impressive bit of gear.

lol, yes I meant chainring!

i’m just wondering how low is too low… guess the only way to know is to try it!

I think 41 is too high 51 is good becuase if I wanna ride my beater bike down the shops I’m not going to be spinning at a cadence of 120 the whole time. my ratio is 38-19

Just to clarify who is running fixed and who is running free.

Because keith is running free.

I run 42-23 fixed. which is 48".
I would like to experiment around 40" free.

Fixed brakless. so easy to skid with my ratio.

lol, if your referring to me, I’m running fixed! (I did try free, but didnt like it!)
