in 1-cup and 6-cup form. due to a bit of a miscommunication the last pair ended up in the dishwasher, which didn’t end well!
Used the flaker (which really means its a roller) 3x so far.
We got the stainless version to allow for a wider range of uses. We have been using a mix of oats, quinoa, chia and maybe barley (i think - i didnt fill the jar i’ve been using) and have a container of dried fruit/nuts (raisins, cranberries, dates, almonds, walnuts etc) sitting beside it to add post-flake.
Rolling the oats takes about 2-3minutes for a cup of oats. I’ve been ‘double rolling’ them for a ‘fluffier’ or finer result, but if you were soaking them before eating you could easily just do a single roll.
The lady’s parents have an electric flaker/mill back in canada and i was envious the first time i used it. for me, i’d compare it to the first time you had home-grown/small farm fruit and veggies vs supermarket fruit (similar texture, but a creamier/more real taste). however getting a heavy piece of kitchen equipment back was not an option. like many of these things, its a bit more work but im usually multi-tasking (making coffee, chopping fruit) so it just fits into those activities. i cant comment on any cost benefits, but given we are using organic bulk grains its unlikely to ‘appear’ cheap compared to the price/kg for rolled oats at the supermarket. we go through a few bit of oats/grains so im looking forward to seeing how it works with other non-breakfast items (crumbles, cookies).
and i wondered what people would ‘guess’ it was… and definitely enjoyed the idea of a schnitzel maker.
I could eat a schnitzel right now.

Thought I’d give a heads up anyone thinking of buying from Wiggle should look at some of the German bike sites: Starbike, Bike24 and bike-components.de. Because the Euro has lost so much value in the past 12 months, most things are cheaper to buy from countries from Mainland Europe ATM. All the prices are listed with VAT which is 19%, But this doesn’t apply to us here cause we’re outside the EU.

the not included handle bar mount was a bit loose and rattles with the light in place… WTF
so i fixed it with a little lizard skin race tape finish tape… works a fucking treat.
