He did my hillbrick. It looks awesome. Mine isn’t ‘perfect’ either, but I’m still very happy with the result. mine was $220 for strip, metalic paint, decal placement and pannier rack as well (that was the extra $20). I’d definitely go back there again.
Hillbrick also paints frames for a similar cost IIRC.
Has anyone seen the paint job on the bike in the window at Cecil Walkers at the moment? It’s called “retrotech” and it’s got awesome pin striping and scroll work. sprayed by paconi (or their subcontractor) and then the details are done by an 85 year old bloke. Costs about $650 or more to get your own bike done like that (although I’m sure there are ways to significantly reduce the price). It does look totally hot though. 6 week turnaround though…
In a word. Seems to me that you’re paying cecil to send your bike to paconi who then outsources the spraying of it (if what someone said earlier is true). There’s a lot of margin being added along the way. You’d probably save yourself a lot of money if you got your bike prepared and sprayed elsewhere before talking it to cecil to pass on to the pin-striper.
I have also had a couple frames done at gv powdercoaters in Shepparton.
I think they do a great job, both times with nervex lugs and detail was not comprimised at all, first job had chrome rear stays which were left alone and came up nicely… and cheap $65 but a trip to Shepp ???
Hey guys, Im looking to get my Farleigh frame. My plan is to sandblast it (as it has about 3 layers of really crap paint on at the moment) and then sell it raw so the buyer can choose their own colour or finish.
I went to my local sandblaster, they quoted me $60 for just the blasting, is this reasonable? I thought it was probably a bit expensive and they said they had never done a bike frame before. Can someone reccomend just a sand blaster in Melbourne? Or would I be better off getting it powdercoated a plain colour then sell it.
