for those who didn’t race last time, here’s the lowdown.
riders will be given a map with a series of checkpoints. each checkpoint will be worth a different amount of points. you do not have to go to every checkpoint - indeed, it will be impossible to do so, as all riders must return to the museum by 8.30, and there will be lots. riders returning after the time limit will have points deducted. the rider with the most points will win!
the puzzle parts of the equation will be a) deciding which checkpoints to hit and b) answering the questions at each checkpoint. tricky stuff!
there will, of course, also be prizes for first noob, first out-of-towner, DFL, first person to finish who is of the opposite gender to the winner, person who hit the furtherest checkpoint, etc, etc.
haha I remember that- Saturday morning ride and we were confronted with a detailed puzzle map… my brain quickly fizzled and we enjoyed a coffee.
I remember Tristan being pissed at me for not being competitive enough haha! :lol:
So what ever happened to the days of old school courier races, where it was just about knowing the traffic, knowing the city, and knowing how to ride like poetry in motion, like archangles of the road, like …

i guess the glory of having such a strong and vibrant biking scene is that we can run different events that cater to different strengths. the puzzlecat, global gutz, brick… they’re all very different races and that will hopefully mean different people have a chance to be successful. like spud’s meat-eating and beer-drinking alleycat, which will give david boon the opportunity to be in the prizes…
