So here it is right now…
I’m trying to decide whether to get it painted. I’ve decided powdercoat isn’t right for this one.
I was thinking of black with chrome lugs and seat stays but it’s not a good enough frame to justify the cost.
So, what colour should I paint it?
I kinda like the color it is. It’s quite distinctive. It reminds me of that old Sylvester Stillone movie, the one where he had the early Ford Cobra done in matt black with moon hubcaps 8) That is of course if it was black, which it isn’t but it reminds me of that…sorry…alcohol influence… :oops:
Would be nice to stick with the original paint if it wasnt too scratched up. Reminds me of my burnt orange hi-riser I had as a kid.
I’m kinda into retro enamel colours at the momemt. Creams, bieges, pale blues etc. If it were my bike I’d do it cream and get a honey Brooks saddle.

Well, the paint is good for its age, given that it’s almost 40 years old. But it could really use fresh paint.
So you guys who say it looks good now think it should be repainted gold?
I’ll put it this way…assume it’s going to be repainted, it’s just a question of colour. Would you repaint it the original colour?
That paint looks remarkably similar to the colour that is coating my Hillman Nick. Is my screen showing me the true colour?
That being the case, I’d keep the original colour. Burnt orange is rad.
OK, let me put it this way. I would rather leave it the way it is for now. If it has to be repainted, I would go for whatever colour I liked.

Yeah pretty much. Yours looks like a deeper colour, but that might just be 38 years of UV rays. Maybe yours has been kept inside.
BTW, sorry I missed your message this morning. By the time I read it, it was all over. We had to cut it short to get home and take the…cringe…car, to Malvern so we could liberate the prisoners.
