Black Cannondale @ the Shenton Park village
seen 1 at leaderville bike store for sale
FG bikes are becoming so common on Perth CBD streets that they’re hardly worth a post. However, my bike commute into the CBD this morning was the first time I’ve seen a ‘triple-header’ of FG bikes that weren’t riding together and which weren’t couriers:
(a) Girl wearing a skate-type helmet in Milligan Street, Northbridge (near the footbridge over the rail line), at around 7:30 am this morning on what appeared to be a black Maurice with orange wheels.
(b) Guy waiting at Wellington St/Milligan St lights at around 7:30 am on a red lugged steel track bike, black road forks with a front brake (I wonder if he still has the bike’s original undrilled track forks at home), bullhorns and a high-flange old school wheel set. Classic.
(c) Guy on Milligan Street, CBD, at around 7:30 am on a bright orange triple triangle frame with white deep Vs (or similar) and risers. He seemed to be on his way to work. Good looking bike.
Haha its funny. I’m the same. Never used to see any fixed at all in Perth. Then there were the regulars, now there are kids everywhere. Deep Vs galore! Gotta start somewhere.
meh, fg’s have been around perth for years. its only once you get one that you start to notice them…
agree on all of the above. when i first moved here i didnt see any, now i see shitloads everywhere. not that thats a bad thing, doesnt bother me.
Daglish bike path, 7:51pm this morning white frame with orange rear and courier bag.
I agree with the sentiment that the more fixed gears the merrier, but I give up on shouting at people for skids that is. I always do it with a grin and a wink but often only get disdainful looks in return. Is this because people can’t skid; or don’t like having a bit of stupid fun. I mean, I can understand you don’t want to skid when you’re zipping down a hill mad quick and I probably won’t ask you too, but milling about the city with your friends you couldn’t you lay down a little rubber to make my day? At least shoot us a smile or a nod.
Anywayyyyyyyyy.
Bearded man at the intersection of Smyth and Carrington about 20 minutes ago, liked your blue rimmmmmmmmms, but I didn’t get a skid, which makes me a saaad panda. In your defense getting shouted at from a car is pretty disconcerting at the best of times, let alone rolling up to a busy intersection.
Also spotted the Niv cruising through the hospital last Thursday.
said ‘bearded man’ here.
apologies for the lack of skids Godspear but carrington is tiring to ride up after work and i’m old.
don’t think you saw my wink - i think the mini has too much speed.
promise i’ll give one next time.
saw quite a few in they city this evening.
props to the guy that said nice bike to me. i wasnt ignoring, had my headphones in, took a little while to register.
I was riding my new visp build up blue/black fade.
some of the notable bikes,
a) red frame, white 'spoke up front, green tyre on the rear. murray st mall
c) something with blue b43’s locked up on hay st
b) 2 dudes riding down murray st, then ducked down that bus lane thing going the wrong way.One had a pair of Red/magenta deep v’s it looked like.
self spotted, on behalf of the hot chick on the Lake Monger freeway portion of my commute who said “nice bike”. I had just turned in from the southern T-junction so she must have seen the profile of it.
Scott! saw that beautiful gazelle frame tearing down fitzgerald this morning! ( i think it was you? it was the gazelle frame at least! )
Kid holding anodized red deep v/deep v copy in William st Maccas.
Some dude on a camo green aero style frame (read visp/leader/whatever) with black b43’s riding up hay st.
Black trick bike with black b43’s and mega wide risers murray st mall.
Also in murry st mall, camo green ss I see everywhere. White detonators and risers.
The dude that rides the chrome bianchi s/and
And a dude riding an aqua colour fixes gear. Cant remember any more details aide some stunned sat next to me on the bench
Update saw the kid with the red wheel riding on a GReY MASI!!!
And the aqua/blue frame dude has black wheels
And my fav, the super commuter on a 26" roadie who was overweight with a girls satchel barelling thru the mall at warp speed lol was classic.
thats me on the camo green “Hillbrick”
doin the groundhog day, into the city every day for work, then home.
Seen an insane number of FG hipsters about in the arvos these days. SO many it is hard to wave/nod, wink etc. etc.
See none in the mornings however to path race. instead have to tackle the lycra clowns.
Saw a maroon Charge with bullhorns + green rims on marmion st, freo ystday arvo.
ditto on the no FG’s on the way to work. (anyone ride city to western suburbs morning / vice versa ?)
plenty of the cool dudes in the over 50’s riding club to race to work. spandex warriors give dirty looks anyway when you ride past them.
i give the guys the thumps up who commute from further out the suburbs on fg/ss
theres a bloke on a bowery that seems to commute up my way, NOR. Dianella way.
yeah i ride into the city most arvos as my routine/ground hog day. would love to commute on my bike but my car is a tool of the trade unfortunately and its a long way to ride to most of the sites i visit lol
and yes, i get great satisfaction passing the LCF’s (Lycra Clad Fgts) if and when i do lol even the super commuters on their roadies give me a laugh
Set up as Single speed?? cause i reckon ive passed you 2346992384 times on the causeway as well, me heading into town, you heading out.
or the camo green aero frame/b43 equipped bike?
