stem angle

I’ve seen a few rides around the place with a more severe stem angle meaning that the bars are at a lower height. Is this purely for aesthetics/ look and appeal? or should it be dependant on the riders height etc…

If you’ve got track bars the likelyhood is that they will be on the low side as it is…

thoughts welcome…

fashion statement in most cases. for njs-walkers and other poseurs who want there bike to look ‘rad’ (or whatever the fuck other adjective is ‘rad’ this week, I’m too old to keep track) but don’t spend a lot of time riding said bike (and if/when they do, they ride on what there is of the tops, not the drops)

Here is an especially silly example:

(something makes me want to slap the guy on the left)

that’s why chopped risers got started…so your bike could still look ‘rad’ (or whatever the fuck other adjective is ‘rad’ this week, I’m too old to keep track) and you could actually ride it for more than three minutes without doing permanent damage to your back/wrists/neck/hips/package or getting creamed by a car/truck/bus/tram because you can’t turn your amusing-matt-black-rattlecanned-stackhat clad head to see anything from way down there.
