Shirts should be banned from beds. Bed time is nude time.
Fork, shipping and taxes prices quoted are for chumps! Custom frame n fork from carl is 2300. Shipping would only run $150 or so, and most people can sort some tax hopping out. I agree its a nice deal if its exactly what you want and “fits” but size is only half the story, innit? Groupsets are dirt cheap these days, and by the soundsof it, this bike has been ridden a bunch.
So if you got beat, grab one built just for you!
Snooze nude, your sheets smell of arse.
This is the point exactly. $1500 was a cracker of a deal for that bike with that group and all the other bits. You go the route you’re discussing and you’re looking at $4k by the time you’ve got a complete bike.
Not everyone visits/has family that can fly frames back for 'em JP!
His custom steel is actually $2500 when you click through, shipping could be cheaper if Strong have a sweet hookup, but still at least $100, otherwise $50 to a forwarder and then ~$250-300. If you declare the full frame value for insurance then you’ll get hit import duty too.
Or you could buy a Giant and spend the rest on candy.
hello blakey
hi alex
ah, Heavy, the point i was trying to make with my quotation marks on “fits”, and comment about there being more to a story of fitting, was that the bike was built for someone else. The owner might have similar length of various body parts as you (ha!) but likely weighs more or less than you, has better or worse flexibility than you, generates more or less power than you and rides in a different style to you.
All of those factors have gone into that frame design, its not built to suit anyone who looks like the customer, its built for the customer, for their specified application. The winner might’ve struck gold! Their characteristics might be a great match to the original owner. But I doubt it, and that means the bike will ride varying-degrees-of-nothing-or-something like what Strong would put you on.
Custom bikes are super, but they are custom. Theyre not supposed to be great bikes for a wide variety of people, unlike Giants.
people have been banned for less!
Was the bike lubricated with palm oil?
oh my lol
Ah okay, point taken. Hopefully the buyer got lucky and fits it nice and snug.
I don’t plan on selling my custom EVER. Which is good because I don’t think anyone out there has anything like my body proportions…
Imagine if you could purchase Giant bicycle at Woolworths and they were lubricated with palm oil.
take them off the shelf for anzac day
I just read this:
This bike was displayed by Carl at the 2007 NAHBS (North American Handmade Bicycle Show) in it’s raw format before it went to paint.
JUMP ON IT KIDS NAHBS NAHBS
Horatio is the ultimate hipster. He has blended sincerity and irony so well I just can’t differentiate any more.
I’m going to start putting ‘NAHBS’ on my ebay listings- should get some extra interest.
Not if they’re chewy and use pictures of diggers to sell them.
