Maroubra ride was good, no slams, which we’re all happy about. Copped a bit of grief from some dudes down there and a shop keeper. Some dude told us to “…piss off! Your not welcome here!..”. It’s good ride out there but it seems a little bit hostile around the pub area. Nobody has ever told me I don’t belong in a suburb before.
No destinations planned for next week yet, the following week though we going to have a little pub crawl/alleyish cat race for my 30th birthday. Maybe hit up 4 pubs, 1 drink at each then the finish line is Mr Bee’s (the old mandarin club). Should be fun and everyone is welcome! Destination for next week coming soon.
BBQ at Centennial park tomorrow (weather permitting obviously) with a couple of the Flatout dudes. Maybe some speed camera racing and a few laps. Chilling ride tomorrow, should be cool.
Sounds good, hopefully the weather holds out. The speed camera doesn’t give you a number if you go over 50, it just says TOO FAST SLOW DOWN or something like that, apparently.
We got a National park ride coming up in about 3 weeks time. We’ll be leaving from Martin Plc as usual on the Sunday at around 9-10ish and heading to Wattamolla. Not sure about riding back, I guess it will depend on how people are feeling at the time.
Stay tuned for more details. It looks like it’ll be on Sunday 14th March, hope to see you there.
over from London, and been in Melbourne for the last month, and am heading to Sydney for two weeks from the 4th March, so this thursday.
What’s the haps on this ride? fast/slow? I’ve been out on a couple of the wednesday night rides here in melbourne, which were a stretch as I’m rolling on 28’s on the travelling bike, and the boys here like to sprint like billy oh pretty much the whole way, and I’m fast for short really short periods but not the whole 60 odd k’s.
I’ve posted this up in the Saturday Morning ride, and depending on my legs will probably be in for this, as long as I can find the meeting point.
Been on lfgss.com for a while so you can find my profile there, also, got a blog going about my worldwide bike travels. www.mrverte.wordpress.com
Sorry for not reading the whole thread, in the midst of packing shit up before I head out to hang with the polo boys this evening.
be well
ps posted this up on the saturday morning ride amd an gonna post this up in the wed night evening rides as well, but I’ve just read the last page of that thread and those boys seem to be of the smashing it variety, so who knows how I’ll fare on that one
pps how hilly is sydney? I am not a lover of the hills.
Sydney is hilly man, it depends on where we ride to but generally Sydney is hilly. The pace of these rides is not super fast, they are generally pretty chilled and very friendly. Got rained out on Sunday just gone, hopefully this Sunday will be different. Not sure how you feel about long rides, but in 2 weeks we’re going to ride down to the National Park and back maybe. It’s a 100km round trip. Should be quite the challenge. The meeting place is 1 Martin Plc, it’s easy to find and if you want head down to the Robo Cog workshop beforehand. A lot of the Sunday riders hang out there before the ride. The address for that is the cnr of Commonwealth and Campbell St Surry Hills. Hope to see you dude.

Yep it sucks, I’ve done a few times heading as far as Rockdale/Kogarah on my way to Mortdale. I hoping for safety in numbers and Sunday morning chilled out traffic. Optomistic maybe, but fuck, people must do it everday.
thanks for the info, will probably show my face and roll along with you boys, might do the long distance one if I’m still in Sydney, sounds interesting. Hopefully I’ll meet some of you guys on the saturday morning ride, so I won’t be a complete stranger on the sunday.
It opens at 11ish. There is people there all day after that. I won’t be there because I got to work, I’ll be at Martin Place at about 5:30. I got a purple NJS frame, I’ll look out for you.
people had a great time on the ride on sunday, and it was worth hanging out with you just for the great eats at eating world after.
nice crew, nice ride, all sorts of awesome for an out of towner.
be well good people and see you for rides later on in the week…
SSS on tour, we’re riding out to Waterfall or into the National Park to Garie Beach depending on weather this Sunday. We’re meeting at Martin Plc at 6:30 for a 7 o’clock roll out.
