I went to Auckland after 10 years in Brisbane, so probably not real fair on AKL. Still, the warmest it got the whole time was 24, very rarely got above 20: you could tell when it was 20 cos everyone was kicking around in singlets and jandals.
Cops are very literally - the worst.
Last week in Glebe, I observed a cop car ahead of me drive over the pedestrian only road block on Glebe Street. Made a mental note of license plate #, and promptly forgot as said cop car veered onto the wrong side of the road to block a kid slowly cycling a BMX down the street, as he wasn’t wearing a helmet.
So happy to flout the road rules themselves, then helicopter others not moments later.

Yeah, Bridge Road.
Possibly inner sydney’s worst road/most popular cycle route, and one of the easiest to make room for a bicycle lane. Relies a lot on critical mass of commuters to make it safe, pretty freaking scary otherwise.

Colleagues gf was t-boned by a car while cycling through a green light on Enmore Rd yesterday. Doing okay, waiting for shoulder surgery. Apparently carrying her license didn’t stop some fuckwit from turning right without looking.
Not even dedicated infrastructure i.e. the bourke st cycleway is safe - been t-boned twice on there…

Sydney cyclists! My girlfriend just got stopped by 2 polices HWP on her way to work. They told her that they followed her for a while and stopped her for “riding dangerously”.
Their definition of riding dangerously is for her case is:
- To be on a heavy traffic road (Wattle st Ultimo) and riding in 1/3 of the lane on a 3 lane road and slowing down 1 lane of cars and was recommended not to ride there at peak hour!
- Her outfit was not appropriate (semi high heels and jeans) and her bike too as it hasn’t having any reflectors (who has those useless things?).
- Riding to fast in approach of an intersection (she has a retro Raleigh 1970 lady bike with front basket: I wouldn’t be able to push that bike more than 30km/h).
What is wrong with our politicians? Can they see we are in 2016? Sydney bicycle are simply getting kicked out of the streets and cops are inventing their one law. # duncangay #CloverMoore #cityofsydney
