The record thread- RRAA

This is for any record attempts that don’t get their own thread, and discussion of records in general.

The newest Road Record Association of Australia (RRAA) record is for an unsupported Across Australia, from Cape Byron in NSW to Steep Point in WA. The supported record West to East is 61d2hr40m, Craig Johnston did it in just 44d12hr8m! The two previous record rides went across the Simpson Desert which is obviously a formidable obstacle for an unsupported rider, so he went south from Cameron Corner around the bottom of Kati Thanda/Lake Eyre.

The next record attempt coming up is tomorrow in Victoria (no more details than that yet), and next week Stacey Duffy will be finishing the first unsupported Women’s Around Australia record.

If all goes well I should be making an attempt on Warwick-Brisbane late next month or October. With this on top of Joris van der Tang’s 4 new rail trail records, Jay Gaffey’s Wollongong-Nowra record, and Reid Anderton’s Around Tasmania record back in February it’s been an incredible year!
