Time ATAC models?

Huge, double check your cleat position on your shoe - if its not set right you foot position might be angled wrong, too far forward or back and that might explain knee probs.

get the roc atac s pedals off wiggle
mad value and they are soooo good to ride in
changing the tension is also a really great feature
no hassle clipping in or out aswell

Put cleat in same spot as shimano cleat. Ball of the foot?

Might go and get properly fitted as i have never had this done. I guess cheep compared to another recon.

On another note, the clip in sound is awesome.

this man is wise and explains well. im assuming the logic applies to mtb cleats as well (correct me if im wrong)

This thread has taken a bit of a side track so to continue it on that detour…

I could not recommend ATACs highly enough. I have ridden them on the dirt for over 10 years and have never had any issues. Extremely strong and durable with a tight mechanism. I’m not too clued up on the model variations but I would stay away from the adjustable ones (RTOC??) as the real beauty of the ATACs is their simplicity and repeatability and I have heard some negative things about them (Carbon XS for me, NICE!!).

SPDs are also good (you can tighten them up pretty firm) but have less float and when mud becomes involved (not such a concern on this form) do not even compare.

Even though many use them I would stay away from eggbeaters. The mechanism is very soft (accidental unclipping) and I have seen a lot of broken ones (more from abuse dished out on a mountain bike from rocks, logs etc). And if anyone is considering the Look pedals (the mountain ones, not the road Keo pedals as they are fantastic) stay away as I have only heard bad things.

As for riding fixed though my preference is for the speedplay road pedals (no good if you need “normal” shoes). They have a ludicrous amount of float and a very strong mechanism. My feet are always secure and the float certainly helps the knees on long fast descents. They also make a MTB pedal which looks very good but with multiple mountain bikes the changeover cost would be high and if it ain’t broke…

That my 2c and 1 post closer to trading access ; )
