What problem are they solving? It’s like the hideous lovechild of a vertical and a horizontal dropout.

They’re a partially closed horizontal design that accommodates singlespeed or geared drivetrains. They feature stop screws that thread in from the rear to further secure the wheel and to position the rear wheel for optimal shifting, plus a forward-mounted stop screw on the drive side to keep the wheel from slipping forward

Yerp, this stopped me from buying one.
This is the one I built for a friend. She had to have it coz ‘glitter dreams’.
She may come to hate these dropouts once she’s changed a tube in the rain as this is her commuter.
