That album was amazing and they were 14 pity after that they lost the plot.

Can’t believe how many here deny “our” true cultural stars and distinct music. All I’ve read so far is pretentious elitism. There is nothing to cringe about which is our real calling and me thinks half of you are trying to be cooler than we really are.
So, Uncle Spirito™® is here to inform you try hard hipsters that no “top 10” album list from Australia is a true reflection without some of the following artists …
Slim Dusty
Kamahl
Bert & Pattie
Rolf Harris
Olivia Newton John
Joe Dolce
Kevin Bloody Wilson

Austen Tayshus

Then again, part of me is always a little bit serious. There’s good music and then there’s popular music. You can’t have a “top 10” of anything that represents a nation without highlighting the truth about the taste’s of a country, and not just a subset. My top 10 artists would be more familiar to more Australians than yours.
I loathe JJJ even after growing up with that station for most of my life. Bunch of sycophants and committee’s, crap music programming and to me the station is no longer relevant. Not enough new, not enough youth. Society isn’t healthy if teenagers listen to the same tunes as their parents. The beauty of youth is to be contra everything of the previous generation. Just because.
In the long run if a song/band is any good it’ll stand up to time and be enjoyed long after it’s fad/fashion/taste’s/generation has changed. We make some awesome music here in Oz … actually more good music than most other countries/per capita yet for some reason we as a nation have bad taste and our radio stations are incredibly crappy. Why is that?
Ha! My favourite quote on this subject is “Writing about music is like dancing about architecture”.

Agreed, I’m not proposing my list as anything to represent Australian music in its entirety these were just my favorite albums that happened to be made by Australian bands. I know I’ve missed out on some classics such as Joe Dolce but my list is just that, a list of music I like.

theres one heck of a lot of win in that list… and good point about jarchives, though down here bodyjar unfortunately have a less positive rep down here- i always liked rimshot more though. threats and facts is one of the few toe-ies albums i could actually listen to now. oh and for me caustic soda > blueline medic.
BUT… you had me at ‘vulgar display of ass’. those boys were friends and underage enablers of mine. i’m going to go play their demo tape right now.
