why is this locked?
CHyclist probs did it again…
No
Yeah, why locked? I wanted to discuss Boreks while people were awake. Oh well. I’m going to Milkwood, cos I want to sit around in a nice place and take my time. To be honest, the coffee doesn’t matter; I won’t have one anyway, cos I’ll want to sleep.
But, boreks eh. I might pick one up on my way in for a late shift. Pickup at 1230hrs and eat at about 1500hrs. Will it still be good by then?
if you like muffins, the ones at milkwood are made there & awesome. not the cheapest, but damn are they exquisite!
as for the boreks, I’d eat one 2.5hrs later, obviously better if you can sling it in an oven for 5 minutes or somethin though. enjoy the delightful customer service from the lady at the market…
did you see geeeeeeeeeeeeeeene?
Milkwood broad bean smash FTW.
Nighty night comrades…
Industry beans and Blood brothers ( I think it’s called that, its in the Rose St market compound) in Fitzroy is good.
I tried to go to Hardware Societe the other month and they had been closed due to a fire. Not sure if they are open yet or not, thought I should mention it. the place across the road from here was really good though. They told me their coddled egs had been cooked at 62.5 degrees for 45 minutes (or something like that). Not sure if the .5 degree’s was necessary or just for wank factor? Breakfast out is my favourite weekend activity.
I did but probably one of those awkward moments that I know him but he dosnt know me
Righto. Back on tonight. Finish on Monday morning.
Anyone had any highlights lately? Happy with CBD too. And company if anyone’s keen. I’ll be seated by about 0830hrs eh.
@quass: Hardware Society is back open (and usually packed to the brim with tourists–must be in the lonely planet or something…). The place opposite is Silo. Great zero-waste, totally organic cafe. They make their own soy milk, which is cool to try because it makes you realise how treated other soy is.
@Pete, I’ve had some really nice coffee and food at Brother Thomas on William St. Last time I was there they were changing ownership but hopefully the quality hasn’t changed. Also Deli Counter on Queen has nice food (think Yotam Ottolenghi style).
Reckon I’ll go to True North cos local and new. Would go to Ruby’s, but not open on Mondays. Anyone been there? Come for a coffee if you’re around; it’s been a lonely weekend.
What time will you be there, Pete?
Eastern Bloc on Bell is a current fave.
Righto. Will go there. Leaving St V’s now.
Was OK. Been to better places. I don’t usually have coffee after nights, but I did today, and it was tasty.
^ Sorry I didn’t make it, totally forgot mini P!N2 was going to day care today which typically throws my morning into chaos.
Edit: Actually I should get your number for impromptu coffee meet ups.
Plenty of love for True North. PIE OF THE DAY!
Eastern Bloc has plenty of classic eastern european food (read: not especially veg*n friendly). Would be excellent for winter feeding for those omnivorously inclined.
I’m curious about Ruby’s but have heard some disparaging reports.
Maybe Eastern Bloc would be better for lunch. Brekky menu was limited. My one True North experience was ace. I want to give Ruby’s a good go cos I’ve met her and she was cool.
I vote Pete goes here next time: Cat Cafe Melbourne — Cat Cafe Melbourne
And provides a review full of instagrammed cat pics.
Looks like Tony Abbott pics everywhere. No thanks.
