Who makes the best puncture repair kit for tubes?

Carry a spare tube and patch when you get home. Those 100 for $2 patches on ebay, plus a $5 tube of Kwik Grip from Bunnings are the go.

Stops you watching RedTube?

Yep, those things were fuckers. How many times did I burn my fingers as a kid patching tubes.

i remember dad and i patching a few tubes one weekend with his old “burn kit” - so much excitement for a 9 year old.

Ha!.. we used to use them all the time. There’s no way they’d allow anything that dangerous nowadays. Those things were like napalm!

I’m surprised to see people recommending glueless Lezyne kits.
I bought one of these and it was COMPLETELY useless. I applied and pumped it only a little. With only a few PSI in the tube, the patch started ballooning. I ended up putting the whole pack on and it still did it. My puncture wasn’t huge but it wasn’t tiny either. It might work with a tiny puncture but I won’t be buying again.

I was recommending the glue ones, I don’t bother with glue-less.

I just take a spare tube and patch the tube at home.

This. Never had any luck with either knog or park stick on patches. I keep a couple in my saddle bag in case of double flats on one ride, but I don’t trust them.

Got given some Beardo French patch kit by spritio that was fucking awesome. Can’t remember what is is and what is was called but the Beardo king will

Like MikeD and Heavymetal say. Bog standard are good. Pass by the glueless ones, never had much luck with em either.

There are some little mini patches that you can buy from Abbotsford cycles for about $2 a sheet IIRC. They’re the best for patching road tubes.

Rema glue is the best, their patches are good too. Velox do tiny little feathered-edge patches that are perfect for skinny tubes. Pre-glued are pretty useless in high humidity/ rain.

Latex and polyurethane tubes are best repaired with dedicated repair kits.

I’ve had problems with cheap patches not sticking properly in the past. Bought Rema patches and glue last time around and I’ve found them to be awesome. The difference to cheap $2 patches really is significant. Rema is the only fancy brand name patch I’ve used so can’t say if they’re the best, but by far definitely the best I’ve used.

I’ve got Lezyne glueless patches in the saddlebag on my roadie, but they’re just a backup to the spare tube that also lives in there, and luckily I’ve never had the need to use the patches.

Don’t even patch tubes.

#yofo. You only flat once.

Haha but 4 pages already

Maruni patches (or the little 8/$1 abbotsford ones), $2 shop glue, replace glue regularly as it evaporates. Sandpaper / razor to remove moulding lines and mould release agent.

I wait until I have ~10 tubes to patch then I do them all at once. I carry 1 or 2 tubes when riding and take the holed one home with me. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.

Who gets punctures these days?

I guess not, if you’re walking around all the time.

Not me.

You are officially the first person I’ve heard of who has had them work for more than 30mins.

I do like them for booting slashed tyres while on the road/trails, that they do very well (and save using a 5/10 dollar note).

ive accumulated a fair few tubes of glue from different patch kits so i keep re-upping the little patches from abbotsford/cecil walker. 8/$1 and i have had no problems with them unsticking.

i got taught to sand/roughen the tube, use extra glue then flare off the excess with a lighter before patching. this helps the initial bond between patch and tube form very quickly. you get one shot at putting the patch on right. i give it 12hrs before removing the backing and inflating (though im sure thats way more than enough).

the glueless park ones have saved me out on TWBDs, but after years in the saddle bag are now reserved for tyre booting only.
