Who makes the best puncture repair kit for tubes?

Puncture repair kits remember them?

Just had a look on the usual CRC/Wiggle/etc sources and there are a few different brands. I had some cheap shitty kits in the toolkit but they never stick very will, and a new kit is only a couple of dollars.

Any opinions on:
-Rema
-Weldtite
-Park Tool

The Park Tool and Rema ones seem to have a good reputation. Or is it all the same shit just rebranded?

Same shit, I’ve used $2 shop ones with no probs.

I mean how many times do you get a puncture at the site of a repair that wasn’t your own fault?

Lezyne ones seem fine to me, $4-5 in shop, plus they come with a tyre boot.

I like the Lezyne patch kits.

They are compact and I haven’t had any issues with the patches. You can also get them in a tin with tyre levers.

Another vote for Lezyne. You don’t need cement for it either, just sticks on. (Plus I needed tyre levers at the time too)

Interesting, no gluing required eh?

the park stick on ones are good enough to get you home and the packet is tiny - but they are not permanent

The best by far

I’ve noticed that they don’t seem to be permanent but Park don’t claim them to be temporary.
In saying that they are very good.

I like the idea that I patch something and it’s kinda permanent (ie I can reuse the tube for longer)

I think the question here is who makes the lightest repair kit? :stuck_out_tongue:

Well sort of related I have been eyeing of those sweet sweet Michelin MTB latex tubes…

does no shirt = no pockets to carry a spare tube?

Park are tiny and will get you home. Not tube of glue = lightest.
I’ve found that a tube patched with them need to be pumped up more often is all.

saddle bag dummie

They may not be compatible with your seatpost.

so just carry a spare tube.

i think for fixing flats out on the road you are better off with the glueless ones, they are so much faster to use. you can fix them with a proper vulcanized patch when you are home. the park ones do fail eventually but they are pretty good. i forgot i had one in a wheel and 6 months later it totally failed at some point overnight one night. but 6 months is pretty good for a glorified piece of sticky tape really.

life is too short to patch tubes

…except that I alternate my commute from 25’s to 38’s which means carrying 2 tubes.

I’m a fan of the Knog Porno Patches, finally swapped out the tube on me front wheel after a year and noticed four naked funny looking people on the tube. Never noticed it deflating quicker.

Are any of you lot old enough to remember the clamp and burn on hot patches? Those bastards stayed stuck.
