My general response it to explain in gentle detail all the work it takes to convert a shitty 27" roadie into a safe fixed gear, followed by a soft whispering of the resulting labour charge and the cost of parts. Usually results in the line “oh…maybe I’ll just get a new one.”
Yep. I’m the wanker. I apologize if my kit offended, I didn’t know there was a uniform policy. Anytime you want to go for a ride you are more than welcome. If you can keep up…
Ha, I didn’t call you a wanker, just said wanky team wear (as a figure of speech - coz I don’t wear it)
Might just take you up on that… But you did look like you were taking off at quite a pace… So think I’ll pass!
Looked like you were out training pretty hard - If I go for a road spin I usually ride my roadie… Distance fixie bash = respect… I’ve been going to try it for a while… But the roadie always seems to win.
Might see you on the road soon!
Peace.
Apology accepted. Now as punishment I direct you to put a 12 tooth on the back and do 5 hill repeats up the Bonnet whilst wearing the full kit from Jelly Bean Racing.
I think I’ll stick to my Wellington climbs thanks
On a lighter note… Do you ride a roadie too? If so, I would be keen for a roll sometime.
Funny you should mention the Jelly Bean kit… I used to be on the look-out for a Jelly Belly kit on eBay… But gave up, and decided I didn’t really want it.
Wise decision!
Hey, just moved to Hobart, errr 3 days ago.
Should have my bike over soon( junkyard frame) what ratio are people running, im runng a 42 and 15 at the moment but i think it may be to tall for hobarts hills… we’ll see.
how many fixed gear/single speed riders are there in hobart??
Cheers
I run 39/15…
It’s perfect.
well i will have a look once i get here,
Is any one in to bicycle polo, cause i would like to get into it; plus be a good way to get the fixed gear/single speed riders together.
Is anyone keen for that??
I’m not aware of any polo action down this way…
Nor am i, i was suggesting that we should get together and have a bash, just for fun.
i was thinking of making one soon, cosidering how many op shops/tip shops there are in Hobart
should be easy.
BOOM!
From Polo section
Build a polo mallet
Ps: as a side note i am now rocking a “ROSS. Compact” 3 spd internal geared hub
verg pick up oh so minty fresh!
Spotted at lunch (about 15mins ago) someone riding a Bianchi Pista with front aerospoke in Salamanca… Anyone here?
magic idea. I know of two others (not on this forum) who have expressed interest in a bit of polo action. Does anyone know a good spot?
Polo should happen.
Not sure of a good location, but central to the city would be ideal. Need a small carpark somewhere. A nearby pub would be handy too.
Maybe the big empty warehouse/carpark opposite Red Cross in Melville St (just along from Sublime Pizza)?
Clearly not finished just waiting for a set of spokes( due this week)
Specs:
Found unknown year Gordonson frame( originaly coaster brake as a guess), very rusty.
Wheels
Seat
Pedals
other things that constitute a bicycle
Hey cats, who’s around and on what? Summer’s almost here. Who’s gonna organise that polo?
I’m from launnie and ride a silver Fuji track, I’ve only seen a couple of single speed/fixed bikes around. It’s so boring riding on my own!
Nice one.
I’m not down in the city or near the uni often enough to know if there are many kicking about in Hobart. Summer-time lawn hangs at slam an anchor might reveal a few.
