You guys buy bikes from the US?

Hey dudes, was wondering if anyone here has bought from bikesdirect.com in the US. I was looking to buy one of these Mercier Kilo TT bikes (Save Up to 60% Off Kilo TT Fixie and Track Bikes | Single Speed Bikes | Mercier Bikes - Kilo TT Fixed Gear Singlespeed Fixie) from there but they don’t ship to Australia. I think i’m going to use one of those freight forwarding companies - myus i think, is it worth it? probably going to be $800 by the time it’s at my door. What do you think?

Those Kilo TT have been described as the disposible bike by many american riders. Its like at the bottom everything and its so cheap in the USA that you can jut toss em when shit breaks and buy another. I say buy something in AUS. Unless your mercier comes with Campy Record/DA upgrade. $800 can get you a pretty nice 2nd hand track complete in Aus.

+1

Cyclic have the Charge Plug for 1k.

my flite was 680. i reckon you can probably get better value buying new locally. you burn too many foodstamps on the conversion and the shipping.

as an aside, i can vouch for myus as a mail forwarder. pretty cheap, no hassles and quick service (they ship with DHL who are quick and their rates are pretty good). when the usd was at 95c a year ago i was getting heaps of stuff through these guys. you can get free domestic US shipping from a lot of places and you can buy stuff that e-tailers aren’t allowed to ship o/s…
