1930's Malvern Star Track Bike

Hey guys,

I just picked up a 1930’s Malvern Star Track Bike and was wondering if anyone knows anything about them. I will post pics up soon.

cheers

If it’s a 5-star, it’s good for rubbish.
I can pick it up if you don’t want to bother with hard rubbish collecting.

haha yeah no worries…http://cgi.ebay.com.au/5-STAR-MALVERN-STAR-TRACK-BIKE-COMPLETE-RARE-_W0QQitemZ330367006457QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20091011?IMSfp=TL0910111310001r5889

Dude :expressionless:

really? no joke?

thats for real
EDIT: Someone bought that for real, not me ha

^You bought that for $1800?

no not at all, just showing how much they are worth

to some people

seeming as you are all knowledgeable why are you ask mere plebs for info?

I’m happy to say I know very little about the type of bike in the eBay link… but IMO it looks like a terrible purchase. Had I not known they could sell for $1800 in what looks to be the worst condition possible, I wouldn’t even piss on it. Am I alone?

it is a particularly ugly looking frame. waaaayy too long…

Bikes pre-1950 had different geometry to the steel track bikes we see today (correct me if I’m wrong).

Especially if they were a path racer more so than a wooden board track bike.

Remember kids, just because it’s got horizontal ends doesn’t mean it’s a track bike.

the man speaks truth.

i have sitting out the back a malvern start star 2 roadster with horizontal dropouts built it up once its to long and short for me dont like the seat stays either.

This may help you, and also suggests why they are so sort after.

please define: sort after

Sort after - Demand > supply…hence the $$$ paid for the item previously listed.

Whooooooooooooooosh!

Rumor has it, that you couldn’t just walk in off the street and buy a five star, they were generally only custom built for team racers, who were meant to return them when no longer on the team.
