yeah i agree. i think my comment was somewhat of a backhanded compliment. i think they do a decent job.

i’d much rather listen to them for 5hrs than 5 mins of BT or james brayshaw on the footy. cannot fkn stand those bell ends.

I think the commentary has been pretty terrible. But they are finding their groove. I think three might be too much though.

Ps. I think BT is good. He doesn’t really understand the modern game, but I like that he knows hes a meme, and takes the piss. I also like that he publicly humiliates Tom Browne.

does he know though james? does he…?

he absolutely knows. This is 100% certified.

well he still gives me the shits! hahah

i’m glad we agree on JB too. which i assume you haven’t mentioned coz you also think he’s a fkn moron.

I’m very glad that sky/ineos is out of the picture, this is the most interesting tdf I’ve seen for years. Enough to make me sit up late to watch stages, and it’s nice not to feel disappointed at the end of the stage.

captures my feelings perfectly. Haven’t stayed up watching stages for years. The sensations are good.

I like JB’s guffaw, but that’s it.

Verdict on Jungels taking out Higuita? I thought that the commentators let him off very lightly. You don’t suddenly swing that far and fast anytime. There’s no need for it.

Nice to see Richie holding on. Looking like he might get bottom step the podium. Pogacar might blow up but Roglic won’t.

Only just saw it this morning. Looked a bit drastic in terms of how abrupt his swing off the front was, but was also just bad timing with Higuita looking back just before it happened. This article says Higuita abandoned after a second crash…?

Also, Jungels got clipped by a passing ambulance later in the stage?! Maybe Higuita had a friend driving?? hahaha

edit - Jungels also took full responsibility for the crash & apologised afterwards.

Yeah I don’t think it’s malicious from the look of it at speed - just reckless AF.
Also, maybe he’s just really crap at paying attention sometimes? Didn’t notice Higuita and then didn’t notice an ambulance…

Seems like tonight is going to be a good stage to watch. The riders are probably lucky the spectators are reduced this year or it might get messy, as it’s a very narrow ‘bike path’ at the end

Indeed.

With the news breaking that Bernal is abandoning, more opportunities for Carapaz, Kwiato and co?

there was a bit of that in the last few km last night i think.

Rog Dog imbibing the ketones, what a lad.

Looks like Lopez has spoiled Richie’s chance at a podium finish. Not sure what kind of TT rider he is. He was Columbian national TT champion and won an ITT stage in the Vuelta.

I’ll be surprised if none of them catch the COVID. There were idiots with their masks down around their necks screaming at them from less than a metre. They would have been riding through a cloud of virus laden aerosols and droplets. I thought that kind of thing wasn’t allowed this year?

And maybe I’m just a grumpy old man but I’m getting a bit tired at the attempts at humour. You’re not that funny Robbie. It’s starting to sound like the footy show. Why not just put Trevor Marmalade on a barstool over the side of the studio and be done with it?

And then the foreshortening thing happened again. Right near the finish a rear view shot shows Pogacar behind Roglic. The separation was about 50 metres, Mathew says he’s about to overtake. A side-on shot a few moments later shows the true distance and Robbie says he’s dropped back again. No, he did not drop back, he was never up there.

hahaha that commentary near the end was the bit i was referring to!

Porte’s podium ambitions vs one gravelly boi.

He pulled it back alright. That was a great stage, had the lot.

Luke gets his wish.
