Has anyone ridden the Salt? Does anyone have any opinions about it?

Of course, Cell has the Solo for $100 less (see Fixed Gear Fixie Bikes & Single Speeds ) with some freebies (which is pretty incredible value), and the Mallet 2 for the same price (see Fixed-Gear-Bike CELL-Mallet-2- ) if you’re not into the ‘classic track bike’ look.

Frame ChroMo TIG welded three main tube road frame

from specs.

Rear end is hiten apparently, so not a full Cro Mo frame.

User Squid on here has / had one I think.

That’s pretty disappointing. I wonder how much money Apollo saved by not using CroMo chainstays & seatstays? Whatever they saved almost certainly wasn’t worth it.

Perhaps Apollo did it to try to differentiate the Salt from the Apollo Pepper. I see that the spec sheet for the Apollo Pepper (see 2010 Bicycle Range - PEPPER - Apollo Bikes ) says “Frame Full ChroMo TIG welded lugged road frame with forged dropouts” (my emphasis).

yeah i’ve got one.
not a light bike (mine weighed in stock just under 11kg), but you can save a lot of weight by ditching the heavy (but damn strong) stock wheels.
i’m still pretty happy with it, and for that price it is worth it. if you have a bit more cash to spend though, the pepper is a better (and a lot lighter).
