All City Nature Boy

Love the hidden eyelets. Bitchin’ that my Cinelli Zydeco has got jack shit in the way of attachment points. SKS race blades… on a cyclocross bike yay

Well, you did buy a race bike Horatio!

Grips have been changed for ODI Ruffian lock ons after I suffered a bit of throttle grip with the Odyssey grips and also worked out how to put the clamps on the ODI’s

Changed gearing from 46:18 to 44:18, which has improved acceleration considerably.

i dunno how i missed this. this bike rules.

You rule, Mckenny.

How does that saddle ride/what’s the feel like? Looks good man

Small update:

I changed the saddle out for two days and hated it, since coming back to the Arione a week or so ago I’m pretty happy with it. Maybe I just didn’t have it adjusted right last time.
The frame is riding really well. It has seen some very limited single track, and even with 32mm slicks it tracked quite well. It isn’t as nimble as some single speed rigid 26inch MTBs I’ve ridden, but its more than adequate for some cheeky long rides home. I’ve been giving it quite a hammering with jumping speed humps, gutters and hitting little bump jumps and everything is still straight. I haven’t even had to true the wheels as yet.

I need some better brake pads because the standard Avid variety are fairly horrible, especially when a bit of water and dirt is involved.

Mud guards haven’t been purchased yet, but thats more out of laziness than anything. I’ve only been wet a couple of times, so I’m not too worried about it. They will come one day.

If I was to go down this route of SS commuter with the option for some dirt again, I’d probably just build up a 29er though. I hate having to worry about brake setup so would prefer hydraulic disc brakes.

Overall, it is more than competent for what I need it for.

(If you need any specifics answered, please let me know. I’m doing this more for my notes on the bike more than anything)

My favorite…

Or maybe this…

haha I was waiting for the reply…

Nice machine Rhys…first time I’ve heard of them but All City is a great name for a bike brand

Carbon fibre toilet seat is great! Is it actually legit, or just carbon wrapped?!

Ross, I figured someone with your pastimes might enjoy the name!

This has to be one of the tidiest builds I’ve seen in a while. Nice work.
I looked at one of these for a while but the whole 130mm OLD put me off but you’ve certainly made it work.
Those ENO trials are the sh1t.
Sorta surprised about the brakes. What pads are you looking to go to?

Single speed steel framed 29er? I went for one of these:

I went with Kool Stop Salmon pads all round and they’ve been a big improvement over the stock. I get a bit of brake squeal on the front under hard braking, but I’m sure I could sort that out if I sorted out the toe in. It is a commuter, so it doesn’t get too many hard braking situations anyway to annoy me enough.

EDIT: What frame is your 29er?

Salsa El Mariachi. Last of the straight 1 1/8" headtube. New ones have 1 1/8 - 1 1/2 needing a tapered steerer.
Not a bad thing. Will get a set of Rock Shox Reba 29er for it.
Have two rear wheels, Hope SS/Trials and Hope 9 speed. Hope front hub is convertible to 9mm QR, 9mm thru, 15mm thru & 20mm thru.
I’ve got first two and will get the 15mm thru when I get the shox.

Can it do peg stalls or tailwhips moccos?

No.

Small update.
Bit of a wash yesterday and front mud guard on. These things are super fiddly and I don’t have a small enough spanner to get it all tightened up correctly, but I will get that sorted this week and the rear guard will follow.
