Hey guys,
Looking to powder coat my frame and did some research and calling around. Found a place called Multicoat down in Rowville. Quoted me $140 for the powder coat service and only had a turn around of 5 working days
Has anyone had any previous experience with these people?
Here is there web site http://www.multicoat.com.au/services.htm
Any feedback would be highly appreciated!
Cheers
If youāre (broadly) over that side of town call A-Class powdercoating in Moorabbin - cheaper than that quote for quality work and the turnaround is usually pretty quick (timing depends mostly on what kind of prep your frame needs)
Got a frame done recently up here in Briz, $60 for a blast and coat with 2 day turn around. $140 is looking pretty steep.
I managed to get mine coated in adelaide for $35, think it was 3 or 4 days (business days, there was a wkend in between). Think I just got lucky though, the job seems alright, no runs etc
Yeah friends of mine just got a couple of frames done at A-Class and they came up great. It was about 80-90ish for frame and forks. The turn around was a little while though- probably because they did a few frames though.
Gave A Class a call today roughly $105 but turn around was 10 days so i stayed with multicoat.
Ill let you guys know how it turns out
Cheers
i wouldnt totally believe turn-around times quoted, they rarely come back on time.
better to go with somebody that has been highly recommended to you, or you totally trust.
yeah fair enough
i really need the frame back asap but quality does matter a lot
however, i havent dealt with either one so why not give a new place a try
cheers
+1 for A class in Moorabbin. Really excellent job, and the guy who runs it rides bikes. So he knows what parts to mask and protect.
The turnaround can be a little slow, because they basically have to try to fit the smaller jobs like bike frames in around their more mainstream customers. Mine took around 10 days.
The best bit was that they were able to fix the crack that they discovered when they blasted my frame for very little cost.
Blast + brazed crack + coat = $125
(no jokes involving the term ābrazed crackā alright )
Was yours the blue and white track frame waiting to be blasted/coated in there a few weeks ago?
I had 4 frames out there, the first took a month turn around, the others around 3 weeks.
They do good work though, I wonāt be going anywhere else and the odd frame repair just adds to my good impression.
Yep, thats the one. Got it done in āheritage greenā. Somewhat inspired by this:
Obviously no comparison between the two frames, but I like the colour.
hereās a spy photo from A Class on monday afternoon 8-). You can see three frames ready there in the BG. I didnāt ride all the way there like that, just from moorabbin station, which was hairy enough. the rear drops hung over the saddle, couldnāt dismount too well, paid extra attention to the trackstands :-D. On the other side of the floor there were a few other frames waiting. For me I was happy to get it all done, frame, fork (and rimsā¦) $120. My hard rubbish bike is now ⦠worth $120.
^^ Haha! I rode all the way back to Monash in Clayton with mine strapped to my back.
Thanks for the input guys
Got a my frame back from Multicoat down at rowville
Surprisingly it looks great and only took 2 days
very impressed.
Pm me if you want their contact details for a quick powder coating job
with all these prices people are quoting, did you guys prepare the frame at all?
If so how do I go about preparing it for a powdercoat?
Nope. The prices I quoted were for everything. Masking, blasting and coating.
allzilamon, was 140 for sandblasting too?
i have also heard about aclass, and seen a frame⦠Seems Ok quality
but it shits me when i have to nag businesses to get jobs done, which seems like that might be required for Aclass
Dude this thread is
OLD
theres no-one here
believe it or not,
i am able to read the post dates
might as well ask
- 1 for A Class a mate recommended them to me and was not disappointed!
