Bianchi Pista Frame sizing

Gday, reader for a while but first time poster.

Im wanting to get a track bike to start riding seriously. currently i have a charge plug in large that i play around on but am considering getting a pista, i have a few questions on frame sizing.

Im 6 foot~183cm with a 89~90cm inseam, all i have read on the net suggest that i go for a 57cm sizing with around 175mm cranks and 90~100mm stem if running drops. Do the bianchi run big? for now im head towards a 57cm. what im really unsure about is that the top tube will be too long, my charge is a large size and has a bmx stem and riser and that is comfy, will i be too streched out with the longer stem and drops on the pista or will running a short stem with drops make me to crouched up with a high saddle for my long legs?

thanks in advance to who every is kind enough to reply.

I tried the biggest pista they had in elite cycles, i think it was a 59? and found it was too small in the top tube- i’m a few inches taller

i am 181 - 182cm tall, i dont know my inseam.

i have a 57cm pista and 170mm cranks. it fits just fine. i would say 57cm is your size.

i’m 6’4" and ride a 61cm pista (they measure crank centre - top of seat tube).
seat tube c-c is 58.5cm
top tube c-c is 58cm

my inseam is about 90cm and i have the seat post above the minimum insertion point (the seat post is way too short on pistas.) 170mm cranks.
i find the top tube length good, could go a couple cm’s up vertically though.
i have a 11cm (c-c) stem, with risers.

do you plan on racing track? cos some ppl on here wouldn’t recommend them for actual racing.

Really?
Those cheeky bastards.
I ride a 61cm pista and always thought it was way bigger than my mates 58cm bike, although I never actually measured it.I guess in reallity I only had 2cm on him. :frowning:

The best way to find the answers you seek is to go to your LBS (if they stock Pistas) and get them to fit you properly. Of course, if you don’t then buy something from them (preferably the bike they just fitted for you) you’re gonna look like a bit of a dick. Just make sure you go to a good bike shop where they know what they are talking about.

Another alternative is this:

I’ve never used it but it looks quite comprehensive.

frame size is important but the setup is oftne overlooked. alot of the setup is trial and error dude -

i ride a 55cm pista and a 53cm steamroller (works for me - they feel the same size) … i’m 180cm and both bikes have a similar setup - same crank length 170mm, seatpost height, cut steerer tube (i.e. no spacers between the headset and stem) but differ in stem length and angle.

the pista has a 90mm -35degree stem and the surly 100mm -17degree stem.

people will tell you otherwise but have in your head how you want to ride track - if you want to murder people with your massive thighs then you might consider riding a bike (size) that you can man handle - if it feels too big than chances are it is too big - common sense really. if you’re a ‘burglar’ type or are new to the track then you may want the (bike) size.

if you can, ask some dudes at the track if they’ll let you do a couple of laps on their bikes - see how they feel to ride and most importantly - how you feel about riding that size or style of bike.

p.s chrome or blue?

Wha…??

i’m about the same height, didn’t think they brought the larger ones into oz. I’m on the 62 Steamroller and if anything find the top tube just a tad too long

yes i do plan to give it a go, hence why i want to get the right setup

chrome, the blue with the white stripes and bianchi logo just does not fit

thanks all for your replies, I’m more reassured of my decision as far

i am the same height and had a 55cm which was too small
