in their latest magazine, there’s two letters complaining about ‘that’ knog ad, one that the illustrations are sexist, and one that the bike and cyclist are unroadworthy.
also they have an interview with a supercommuter who apparently rides the 32km to work in 40mins, obviously an editing mistake, but probably makes a whole lot of people think they’re really slow.
They must be doing something right to have a floor on Collins street as a “not for profit”
But seriously
-Website is so hard to use to the point it ain’t worth using
-Magazine looks cheaper then a JB hi fi catalogue and has zero diversity
-Advocacy is very single minded (towards the safety vest brigade) almost to the point of excluding other groups
Oh and they like that copenhagen shit.
Can anyone tell me if they have spent one cent of the hundreds of thousands of dollars they rake each year on any piece of cycling infrastructure or do they just bleat to government or council to cough up and then claim victory.
We had to once pay to provide a service to their members at one of their events.
Bullshit. Bicycle Victorias standard modus operandi is getting more government tenders more often, then signing off with minimal service delivery. Mr Barber and his crawling lackeys so-called efforts at cycling advocacy are duplicitous rubbish as he spends a considerable amount of time kicking shit out any perceived competitors.
Government tenders for what? Bike lanes? Bike cages in workplaces? Or jus paper-shuffling and ‘change facilitation’ (whatever that means) or ‘advising’ on how to appeal to ‘green’ voters without actually doing anything? Where does the shitkicking have happen, are you talking about them ‘shafting’ smaller cycling groups? If you’re just going to say ‘ner BV sux’ it’s not particularly enlightening.
In case it’s escaped your attention, some people, such as myself, have professional employment in the real world and have first hand experience dealing with a certain dysfunctional org.
BV reams everyone, corporates, government. You name it.
My housemate works for them, He has told me he has been directly involved in getting new bike paths made, bike lockers and bike lanes. This is what he has told me, I have had no dealings with BV so i have no real idea of how they operate or their infrastructure so whether what he is telling me is completely accurate i have no idea. He does alot of rides on paths to access whether they need upgrading/extending and he works pretty hard on the great vic. Thats all i know though.
If anyone has any direct questions I would be more than happy to voice them to him and post his reply.
Perhaps he was hinting at how the almost Spartan effectiveness of the fixed.org.au layout makes the jumble over at bv.com.au look positively Byzantine in comparison.

Which ironically is quite an appropriate parallel to the typical bike ridden by the people on this forum when compared to the BV website.
Or am i generalising?
Out of interest has BV ever produced/paid for television advertising to promote cycling safety/driver awareness? It strikes me this would be a great way to communicate with the millions for shit Aussie drivers out there.
