I think the actual bottoms of the teeth are drilled as a circular hole pattern then the holes joined up to make a chain ring. I dont think the tips of the teeth experience that much sliding contact anyway so it’s probably not too important.

In that case, cycle underground should get a copy of the ‘Standard handbook of chains’ or ASME B29.1 and reprogram their CNC mill after calculating the tooth profiles.
