^ what like this…
Do you guys just ride at 10km/h and never worry about pedal strike? My track bike has a high enough bb so it should be fine, but my polo bike with 650 front wheel gets enough pedal strike as it is with time atacs, which have a small enough q factor. I’m pretty sure plenty of tircktrackers run 650 up front + BMX pedals. What’s the deal?
Ok, Im willing to admit I was wrong, that actually looks pretty nice. I thought the BMX pedals would look a lot chunkier then that.

:?
i ride a 26" up front and i do tricks and normal riding/traffic etc/
riding around i have never hit the pedals going around a corner, and doing tricks its usually only certain tricks that do it,
but i guess it depends on the frame/tyre size etc. but for me, i have no issues with 26/650 + wide bmx pedals

track bike, high bottom bracket, bmx pedals/bo straps, ride fast, no tricking, no pedal strike, no problem
fair call. So I guess this is highly dependant on your individual setup. I run longer cranks on my polo bike which explains the higher pedal strike rate.
I find in polo i try and turn much tighter without really thinking about it, hense more likely for pedal strike. Everyday riding it fine and i ride traffic&trick.
tis the gypsy
Brooks beat you to it.
This a 1937 catalogue.
Check the bottom row.

Thanks Clarion!
sorry to shoot you guys down, but nothing in that catalogue even slightly resembles the bo straps
thay are however early versions of holdfast/chicago wig etc straps
do the straps themselves come in any other colour than black?
these look like great alternatives to the usual straps clips combo – especially the fact that pretty much any shoe can use the BO straps
When i am riding the strap ons I find I have to put my foot in then start riding and reach down to reef the strap up onto my shoe to get the proper grip on my shoe,
Is this standard to get them to fit or am I riding them too loose/tight?
Is it catching on any part of your shoe? You shouldn’t need to - but set up does help when it’s right. I have mine tight on the front loop and then firm on the rear - lets me be able to upstroke pretty well.
yep i find i have to do the same thing
me too
Hmm, seems a little odd, as we didn’t experience this issue with the production model.
Maybe a little loose? but I’m not sure, do you guys “wiggle” your foot into the pedal? This helps get your foot right in without reaching down…
Gypo/dave any ideas?
Had mine for 2 weeks no issues… the best straps ive ridden by far.
^^^ you need to tighten the front strap a little more so that your whole foot soesnt have to go in. its a funny feeling at first cause you think your going to fall out but it feels like your clipped in once you get used to it…
thanks b&o
I got some of these on wednesday with the Odyssey twisted pedals. A good low cost set up as a replacement for a broken cage.
Modifying the pedals was not a lot of fun, but i ended up using an old pocket knife heated in the stove till it was red hot to burn/cut though each bit in one hit. After using a stanley knife for the first try and taking about a half hour to do one bit, the rest took about 5 minutes all up.
It’s really nice to have a big solid base under foot, and overall a comfy set up.
You’ve gotta be happy with that.
that black d00d is massive. if anyone’s gonna break straps its him. i like how cars give way to him, i guess they figure he’ll do some damage if hit…
