Brakes. Can stop, do wanna: Fitting Tektro 926AL mini V's.

I’ve been enabled. Rear brake went on without a hitch. Pretty much ran into all the same issues Blakey had when installing the front. Had a good 'ol shed session yesterday afternoon filing and modifying.

Using Tektro 926AL’s with Kool Stop Salmon pads and Jagwire adjustable noodles.

Good noodles eh. Spicy.

They is. Work well.

Mini V enthusiasts - piecing together a parts bin sscx and have some 926AL’s coming in the mail. Will Shimano BL550 levers be compatible?

BL-R550 are great levers. And they’re caliper/canti pull, so they will be fine with mini vees.

Grouse, one less thing to buy - thanks for the info HAL

Another one -

Cycling deal has 926AL’s only in silver. They have 930AL’s in black (which are 95mm arms) but I want to run them with BL550 levers again - will this work?

I don’t like going beyond 85mm for minivees generally, more leeway with flat bar levers compared to drop bars, 95 is pretty much sniffing at the lower end of regular vee brake territory.

Also, if you’re considering 95mm, why not just get regular vee brakes and vee pull flatbar levers, shimano, avid, tektro… longer arm means more tyre/guard/rack strut clearance too. Some shimano ones are convertible, tektro too. Avid do a speed dial lever that’s adjustable pull but it’s +/- linear, doesn’t adjust into caliper pull.

At this point, I have the brake levers, and the black ebay 926al’s aren’t available as readily.

Might just settle for silver 926al’s.

just jaseyjase them!

Thread dig.

I’ve acquired a near-original 1994 Stumpjumper, to use as a commuter and for kid-carrying duties.

I have already have a Yepp Mini kid seat and like it, but its attachment clamp is right where the front cantilever cable wants to be. I’m pretty sure the canti has to go.

I’d like to keep the original brake levers if I can, but being for cantis I assume they’re short pull, which means going to Mini-Vs.

However, I don’t imagine there’s any Mini-V that would accommodate a 2" mtb tyre. I’ve got some 26x2.1" WTB dth tyres that I think are perfect for this build.

Is there some way I can run a full size MTB V brake, with the old short(ish) pull levers?

Am I even on the right forum any more?

Na. Just swap the levers out. Sorry.

Actually can you run a crown mount cable stop for your front canti?

It’s 1 1/8 threadless right? Drill the Yepp mount and use it as the hanger.

Alternatively, the Problem Solvers Travel Agent will do what you want, but you may be better off just getting new levers.

I’m guessing it’s 1" threaded. Good idea though. That’d work.

I had a similar problem on a Shogun Trailbreaker. Lucky for me I was able to route the cable through a perfectly positioned gap in the clamp.

Such confidence in that look!

Love to see some pics of this
