bridgestone/ anchor/ grand velo frames?

ive have got my eye on a frame and he said it was made by bridgestone. i have searched google and this forum but have come up with no information.
would appreciate if you could tell me some information about these frames

They are made in Japan and some of them are good! Meanwhile others are lower end and not worth pursuing.

This it?

yep you know anything about it?

Even taking into account that the wheels are not fitted with tyres, the frame and forks both appear to have have exessive of clearance.

Take a close look at how much clearance there is between (a) the front wheel and the fork crown, and (b) the front wheel and the down tube. Keirin geometry is usually real tight. The fork looks like it has alot of rake too. Maybe it’s not the original fork ???

Ask him for more and better pics.

yeh i didnt think the fork was right
i also did ask for more pics but i wont get them till tomorrow so i will have to wait

looks like it needs 27" wheels rather than 700c’s

check the clearance between rear brake bridge and in the front fork!

had a closer look at the fork
i doesnt look like it is sitting on the wheel properly
or is that just me?

you might be right actually. if thats the case, then it probs is 700c. youll have to wait for more pics and make a judgement call then

As stated earlier, Bridgestone make Keirin track frames. They also make other bikes (some amazing, some crap). The also make frames under the name Anchor, and from what I understand they used to be made under Grand Velo (I could be wrong).

There’s a Grand velo for sale here VINTAGE BRIDGESTONE GRAND-VELO NJS Track Bike Frame. This guy pretty much only sells Keirin stuff, so I think he knows his shit.

Also, if you want to know if it’s a Keirin frame, ask to see the NJS stamp on the BB shell. No stamp = not a Keirin bike.

It’s really hard to say what it is. Someone may have stuck track ends on a road bike. Is it drilled for brake? The clearances do look a lot bigger than other Keirin frames. A photo with wheels (with tyres) fitted properly would help a lot.

In the end though, the frame could be decent. The parts with it are pretty good, so it’s not a terrible buy…

Unless it’s stamped BIA. I’d also take 2joes2’s non NJS Nagasawa over 99% of NJS stamped frames.

Damn you Blakey…!

But yeah, listen to Blakey, not me.

i looked at a message he sent me and he told me what the code was on the bottom bracket shell it is S3L0032

i asked if it had an njs on the bottom bracket and the answer was no, it doesn’t have an NJS stamp because it was built for Keirin riders to ride on the road with, that’s why it’s drilled for brakes.
and the clearance at the front was around 10-15mm and at the back when the axel was as far back as possible in the dropouts it was around 10mm
this has turned me off the frame now.

now to start the hunt again now

NJS doesn’t make it super special y’know?

A Japanese built track frame with a bit more clearance and drilled for brakes? That’s a pretty nice thing to have.

I wouldn’t pay the asking price, but it’s not a turd.

yeh i know it not doesnt make it special
i was hoping for somthing with tight clearances and if it was njs it was bonus

Why do you want ‘tight clearances’?

(And if you say because it looks cool I’ll ban you.)

i’d like to put 32’s on it and brakes

hahahah yeh i want them because there cool nah because at the moment ive got a conversion and it got massive clearances and i would like to have a change also i want some something thats got really tight geo

lol yeah oi nah yea ahah lol yeh nah m8
