Bris Cyclocross

It was a great night. You could view the whole track from the grandstand. Very muddy for the racers.
Hopefully, someone got some video or pics.

Oh. My. God. It. Was. Slow. Going. In. That. MUD.

I used my brakes once in the whole race, and that was after diving up the inside of an A grader in maybe the second corner of the race to move into third place.

Then I commenced a graceless move back through the field, as all but two people passed me. The leader (Lawson) lapped me a second time just before the end, and almost binned it on the remount … and some in the crowd accused me of trying to take him out. Slanderous.

There is a bit of a race report on my blog. Mudsters of the Universe: The Perfect Storm

And pictures all over facebook. http://www.facebook.com/QueenslandCyclocross

There was also a semi-pro photographer running around. When I work out who he was I will throw up a link.

I only ride so you don’t come last :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Entries now open for the Exact Radiology Queensland Cyclocross Championships.
Hepatitis Creek here we come!

I am so there! SS commuter / CX dual duty bike is almost prepared

Hepatitis Creek here we come!

any chance of a duck-board for the juniors this year ? - it went missing last year

Always a great event.

This Sunday afternoon there is a social ride heading out from Bardon.

Check out all the details at the facebook event page.

Hey Brad, do you think I’d be able to get a chariot trailer with small child around the proposed loop? The paths should be fine and wide enough, but the fire trail I have no idea about?

That will be a question for Andrew, he has done the recon ride.

I would assume a trailer will be OK. The ride will just be on the bike paths etc and taking small detours to encounter obstacles.

Might need to be a coupla little shortcuts for the four-wheeled-vehicle (ie. you & your chariot). The entrance that we are using to Banks Street reserve is steep and tight (just for fun). But there’s another way in, which isn’t at all difficult.

And there’s a little tiny bit of single trail at the end that wouldn’t be possible for the chariot.

But it’s all good … I can easily nominate the spots where you would short-cut

Of course, all four wheels have to get off the ground at the Ashgrove dirt jumps.

Thanks mate! Not sure we could make it anyway but just wanted to know so it is an option for our weekends activities.

That was a bloody tops day. Great variety of tracks, including dirt jumps and BMX tracks. Excellent group of people, we need to do this again.

Yeah, great fun. The best thing was riding along a bike path and then seeing the massive variety of lines that people took as soon as we got into a park section. It was like a swarm of bees spreading out and then reforming at the end of each park.

Andrew, are there any pics from yesterday?
I saw you and Emma taking a few.
By the way, thanks for the beer. I will reciprocate when we organise something similar on the south side.

That won’t work unless you’re on fb? Bloody Facebook, who knows.

Short blog post from me, with three of Michael’s pix

Everybody on this forum has the mad CX skillz already, but if you’re Brisbane-based, and you want to practice jumping on and off your bike for a couple of hours and you don’t want to do that in a city park on your own cos it looks weird and you are already thinking you might come along and race at the State Champs at the 'switch on 30 June then come along on Sunday afternoon to Musgrave Park and practice with us (that’s me, Brad and national series competitor Emma).

my mate and I will be there for the skills on Sunday  also trying to work out my entry for june 30. Should I go open or B grade? Ive never raced before, let alone CX.

I’m just an avg fitness weekend road cyclist and occasional commuter, any reason to go for 1 over the other?

if have cx bike, do b grade.
if other bike, do open.
