Brisbane to Gold Coast Ride

I’m thinking about it how far is it.
not sure what to ride or to do it at all have had the worst flu virus.

60 miles , 100 ks if your down with the queen.
im no hero so im happy to cruise, the sign up closes today.

you can always sneak on thats not hard at all.

Gear Brisbane
Come along everybody!!!

If we can stop for food I’m in

Dayne I did this last year after a decent layoff the bike, on the road bike. Just keep up your fluids/food and you should be right. I only hit trouble in the last 5km, cramped up like a bastard… Both quads, trying to un-clip was comical.

Wish I could do this ride, have a bucks party weekend down the GC.

what better way to arrive at said bucks party?
whats the go with brakeless? probs a bad move, so many people and all, might whhack one on for the day

HA, if only… The party starts friday night, heading back to BNE sunday morning.

After last year I wouldn’t go brakeless, unless you want to spend some time at the front. If you get stuck in the middle its a real cluster f*ck of people with varied skills.

there should be 2 rest stops along the way giving out food/water, around the 40 and 80km marks i think. the only really crowded spots are at the start before people get on the busway and once the weekend warriors hit the ever-so-slightly rolling hills through logan/ikea district (get ready to hear the sound of dropping gears).

who is riding back? maybe a little recovery dip and back in the saddle? if its a gentle pace down should be able to make it?

if everyone’s sucking your wheel, what’s the issue with brakes?

i’ll be doing the sucking thank you very much

edit: was more wanting to know if the organisers will shut me down on the day, ie Terms and Conditions

  • The Participant agrees to abide by the Queensland Road Rules and to follow directions
given by The Organisers and Queensland Police.

bolt a brake just in case past 2 years running i have had a few close calls dealing with the midpack action

also trying to go brakeless after about 60ks in is a bit of a grind

^^ pfft

^^ dont worry red there arent any cabs on the course

red please dont bash me at polo next time i come up

I got to half the checkpoints before the marshalls did last year… was rather amusing to see the little people in high-vis belatedely running up the road to try and flag us through approriately. Accordingly, I think it’s fairly safe to assume they’ll have bigger issues to deal with than scrutineering 10,000 bicycles as they pass

and +1

if i do it on my polo bike will i get mad street cred?

So who’s taking this one at a leisurely casual pace and who’s up for a smashfest?

I’m still undecided but possibly leaning more towards the casual side of things at present

i hear your mum likes it casual…

im out, sandy vag thingy
