Brisbane to Gold Coast Ride

jacK?

I told Eric I’d post a pic of my new Soma:

Visiontech TT base bars, Soma 100mm 31.8 stem, FSA A-headset, Campag Chorus brake, Soma lever, Cateye Strada wired computer, Trek Stainless tubular Cage, Miche Primato 165 cranks & BB, 50/16 gearing (82"), Miche splined cog, Miche 28H hubs, Velocity Aerohead rims, Schwalbe Durano tyres, Campag Chorus Ti Seatpost, Selle Italia SLK seat, KMC 410 “Z” chain, Speedplay Zero CroMo Pedals

If you flip that stem and put the bullhorns horizontal it would almost be as much of a weapon as N8’s Jamis. Love the all black though.

Thanks Antmandan
It looks better “in the metal” - much more delicate from front or rear. For some reason it won’t go as fast as N8’s - hence I will require a refund.
More info on the GCC: there were some sections where the surface was quite rough causing lots of vibration. Subsequent hotmix was so smooth and silent it felt like the tyres were flat (110F,120R).

Anyone get annoyed with some geared-bike-riders’ technique of hill-climbing? Hill spotted; Cease pedalling; Freewheel to the base; Shed all kinetic energy; Shift to granny gear; Creep up in the saddle; Freewheel over the crest; Brake down the other side.

Fixed gear bikes aren’t that lenient on their riders.

don’t get annoyed, get pedalling! was fun yo-yo-ing about with a few people on the bumps

If I flipped the stem, I’d herniate a disk and if I put the bullhorns horizontal I’d bugger my wrists. They look oversized in the pic due to the wideangle lens and look a lot flatter from a higher eyepoint.

Remember, this is the bicycle version of a walking frame.

yeah its me

anyone doing this on sunday?

is it in the AM??

yer.
you coming shirts?

yeah brah - waaaaayyyyy before Red time

yeah was thinking it will probably be a nice day for it

i’ll be riding bak too.
i’m trying to convince the gear crew to meet outside the new ABC building at 4:30. (just up from rydges and near that intersection into the convention centre car park

when does the red group leave?

looks like dave is in the “red group” too.

4:30 is my kinda ride… non of this get outa bed before the sun rises in the morning shit…

5:15

How fast you intending to crack it down there Dave?

I’ve never done it with gears, so wouldn’t mind burying myself - might change depending on how the legs feel after the omnium though

well…i love to ride fast, but that said, i gotta ride back.
plus i am coming off a pretty shitty chest infection - was coughing up blood on saturday, and i’m still coughing myself to sleep at night.
plus, plus I am part of the gear team discount, so feel a bit like i should roll with them.

so yeah - i am telling myself to ride conservatively, but who knows what will happen when the blood gets flowing and the moment is upon me…

oh yeah - shirts - i have a prologo c.one.30 saddle going cheap!

haha - if you start off early with the pack and try and sit amongst the fodder at 30kph, you won’t last long down the busway with trains constantly overtaking you in the high 40’s… you’ll jump on it for sure!

aight - will chat about it (though I did just score a prologo scratch as a spare for whenever)
