Cousin Balki's Melbourne Rant Thread.

Reminds me of when shop owners complained that banning smoking in Rundle Mall would stop people going there.

It hasn’t.

Agreed, the bike lane is massive and it’s not like Smith St where car doors are being opened on you every few seconds.

maybe this should be in the K pop thread but i saw a bunch of kids from my old school just now in the city busting out some gangnam style, i LOLd

to be fair, the particular, individual trader in the article had a legitimate concern.
dunno if i’ve ever actually ridden Wellington St in peak hour but i can’t really see why that street would benefit particularly from a ‘copenhagen lane’.

and of course, there’s the usual tumbleweeds blowing through the collective consciousness of the comments section

maybe they think they will get cyclists off Smith/ Brunswick streets… yeah right.

Fuck off Jack…

John Elliott pledges 1am nightclub closures

nanny state… gives me the shits.

‘‘There is a lot of talk about night-time and people with knives"

I can see it now… “Did you see that night-time last night? Very dark, wasn’t it”

City speed limits drop to 40km/h | Council, Robert Doyle

he also claims that easing congestion in the CBD will be solved by having more underground carparks. what a champion.

what was the speed limit prior?
not that any vehicle has been able to travel faster than 20kph in the cbd for the last 20 years.

who drives into the city nowadays and thinks, i might pull over and have a bit of a shop because the speed limit is lo, instead of continuing on my way to my destination.
FUCK! just got sucked in.

^^current limit is 50km/h JAMS^^

and i managed to do 45km/h (according to my speedo) out the front of the strip clubs this morning just before work.

that one in particular bewildered me…

Yep, comments are adorable.

That was the other fella Morgan, but totally bizarre nonetheless

Can anyone think of a single street in the CBD where it would be physically possible to drive a car at 40kph? My car shows an average speed of 24kph for general driving and I’d never take it into the shitty.

fixe famous!

oh…

and oh… read first, post second.

but thats King Street, pretty much the only city ‘bypass’ there is.

I think that’s also the street where all the night-time and knives happen.

you could probably get a sweet job on Elliot’s staff with that sort of insightful knowledge!
