Just the rim… Needed today if possible, but yeah I know they can all order them in. Will go down that road if I can’t track one down.

no love from human powered either.

:frowning:

I’ll just order sone… thanks for the suggestions folks.

Saw a set at Abbotsford Cycles richmond, try them…

No dice… thanks anyway.

Studley Park Rd is the best hill I’ve ever ridden down.

Harris Gully Rd Warrandyte mate, at the top of a series of lil steep climbs and just peels off down the side and you’re coasting at 70kmh into the middle of ‘town’.

Does anyone ride in the western suburbs? Around Deer Park - Sunshine? It feels like no-one there has ever seen a bike before…
What’s the best way to deal with all the abuse I cop from people who seem to yell at me because they’re scared of bikes (even though I’m completely out of their way)?

I ride through sunshine, st albans a bit on night rides. Are you talking about commuting?

i’m out there a bit. ignore them. they’ll get used to you in time.

Yeah, sorry. I commute through those suburbs and around once a week, people are yelling at me or telling me to go back to my own country or to ride on the footpath (because apparently that’s what they’re there for). I ride to the left (almost gutter-hugging) to provide more than enough room for those space-hungry cars, and they still seem to hate me anyway? I rode with friends once and some guys threw a water bottle at us…
Just curious what the best way to deal with these occurrences are. I never react or yell at them or flip them off, but it ruins my mood for the rest of the trip home.

St Kilda road is gorgeous… when the Cadels are out in full force it is slightly ruined. I don’t mind them if they keep to themselves, 85% of the time this is not the case, with them either yelling something about my lack of brakes or passing at full speed a little too close for comfort.

How’s about you ride how you want, and I’ll do my own thing? Easy!

if i only get abused once on a ride, then it was a good ride.

self preservation must rule. they have +1tonne of metal/plastic guardin them, you only have some clothes.

just think of them as schoolyard bullies. the less you react, the less inclined they will be next time to yell/abuse you.

yeah, that sucks man.
I don’t really like riding there when it’s busy, last Saturday I rode down Mcintyre Rd and into Ballarat Rd, it was so shit. Only bit of abuse was from a bogan in a ute. But that is to be expected.
The ‘go back to your own country’ comment is a bit suprising. As it’s a very multicultural area. Although bogans are everywhere.
Where do you commute to/from? might be able to help with an alt route.

+1
I only get angry when I almost get hit.
Abuse goes in one ear and out the other.
Now way will I ever let some dickhead yelling something ever make me not want to ride my bike

I bet your country has nice weather and food.

Yeah, I think they said it because they didn’t really have anything else to say or they just really hate Asians.
School period I ride mainly along Furlong, St Albans and Ballarat Road to Sunshine train station. Sometimes I ride the same route but go straight to the city on the Princess Highway. If that happens, I ride home along Footscray and Sunshine Road. I think any alternative routes would probably add a lot of extra time to my trip…
I’ll probably take everyone’s advice and hope that it’d all stop some time in the future. Thanks for the help guys! Good to know there are other cyclists who ride on the road in my area (most cyclists I see are bogans on the footpath. Except this one guy that I observed from a distance with an aero helmet - a very peculiar sight considering how poor the road conditions he was riding on were… I seriously couldn’t shut my mouth).

You go down mcIntyre Rd to hit Ballarat?
These are some shit roads to have to battle.
As you say, any alternative will add a bit of time. The west into town is a bit crap.

i had an old boy on beach road tell me i had to “make time” to clean my bike on sunday. it’s still got a fair amount of white mud on it from the warby trail on cup day and i’m waiting to put on new chainrings before i clean it.

thought of a million things i would’ve liked to have said to him as i rode the rest of the way home.

he even had a mini aussie flag sticking up out the top of his helmet…

haha, i did exactly this on sunday arvo. read my post in the sick burn thread for details.
