Azz: Loose definition is that CX = drop bars, 700C wheels. To be stricter no discs until Sept 2010, no tyres wider than 35mm after Sept 2010. And as such Alvern’s doesn’t make the cut.
They’re sort of like road frames with space for fat tyres, and canti studs (or discs). But geometry is a bit different. Wheelbase is longer. BB is usually higher.
any amount of gears >0 is acceptable, singlespeed/fixed/single chainring/double chainring/whatever
frames look a lot like road frames but have extra clearance to support wider tyres, thus canti/v-brakes are often used
there are some common geo/frame differences but thats enough of a lesson for today
