entry level track bike?

Btw how do i differentiate a fixed gear bike that’s made for track racing and one which is made soley for commuting? the geom?

A front brake.

I bought an 07 FUJI track pro from Goldross for $700 brand new. I think there are still a few scattered around melb. It’s more than enough bike for me atmo.

+1 on that, mine is way too small but i love it too much

KHS Flite 100s are on special from Dirtworks at the moment. Should be able to pick one up for about $700 if you’re nice to your LBS.

thanks for the heads up! but i doubt there’s any left in a 56 tho. Wad size did you get?

I bought the 58cm. Still perhaps a little short for me (6’2 34" inseam). But With stem flipped over and tall’ish post it rides well.

se is the way

how bout the bianchi pista/fuji track

Duh , a track bike you noobs, not a lazy geometry road bike(faux track).
Se lagers, fuji cro mo track, and bianchi pistas are not true track geo bikes!
Bottle cage mounts and drilled forks don’t belong on a bike for the boards.

won’t make a difference for a beginner.

Fair point, but a lot of those recommendations aren’t track bikes. They are fixed gear road bikes with geo to match.
the OP asked for entry level track bikes.
Cro Mo lagers and fujis are road bikes with track ends .

bottle cage mounts and brake drillings are not the problem, nor is a slightly relaxed geometry, it is the bottom bracket height that is the main concern for the banks of a serious velodrome…

any recommendations an entry level bike with serious track geom then?

a hillbrick pista would suit your needs just fine. real track bikes and i think you can get them from about 800 bucks.

Out of curiousity, what sort of bottom bracket height does a real track bike have? My Madison is about 28 cm to the centre of the BB which isn’t much more than my flat bar, but all up the difference between the two is about 30 deg lean vs 45 deg (roughly by eye). The Madison is helped a by narrower and 5 mm shorter cranks and small SPD pedals.

The bottom bracket height will be less with smaller tyres.
The standard for board track use is 11" or 28 cm with 21 mm singles using 165 cranks.

there’s a track bike (i’m pretty sure) in the ebay sale section just now. you can’t access it due to your post count but if you search ebay for the following it’s bound to come up:

Hillbrick 2009 Pista Track Bike

or search for seller “lou_bike_rocknroll”

it’s red. pick up ONLY in collingwood so hopefully you’re in melbourne.

mods pls delete this if against the rules. or grant him 48hrs trading access…? :stuck_out_tongue:

how about avanti?
