Did you end up getting anything Ezy? You could do a lot worse than this
I’ve put maybe 10,000km on the same frame, racing, cruising, gravel, can’t really fault it.
Edit - Might be a little small though, now that I look at it more closely.

No I haven’t really found anything that bowls me over at the moment. I did see that Malvern Star but it would be too small for me.
Thanks everyone for keeping an eye out though
I have a full Tiagra groupset in very good condition (did around 1000ks on it, bought it in 2012 new) if you’re interested and still going down the DIY way. I’m in Canberra as well.
Steve has 105 in decent condition too. Talk to him about it
Bumping this cos of this: Bike FOR SALE | Bicycles | Gumtree Australia Lake Macquarie Area - Wyee | 1033891851
$1100 for a cad9 is pretty good. Has tri-bars so has probs been pissed on, hence low price.
Cheers for everyones help. Decided to take my time with this one after wasting everyones time… and build a Kumo.
brav-fucking-o! great choice!
I want the 2 minutes that it took to find this thread and post that link back.
And awesome work on the decision.
FOA’s emicons are so limited… I want the pair of clapping hands.
What?? You went from bargain basement to uber premium?
Keith is taking over Canberra one FOA-er at a time. There aren’t many left without an order in.
Yeah. In the meantime, we all ride shit bikes, waiting for our Kumos. And then we take over the world.
Sort of. Just cashing in on the barter system. Keith has had me down for a frame since he started - I just couldn’t make my mind up of what I wanted up until last week when I realised I should stop fussing about with a do it all bike and get a nice every day roadie.
The parts list isn’t going to be top shelf.
thats the beauty of a top shelf frame, you just chop and change parts at your leisure
I only have one big decision to make… discs or not. Only reason is I have a set of hope disc hubs sitting here.
If not, I may be able to take the rear off your hands
If it’s just a pure roadie, I don’t reckon discs are needed. You’re not a heavy bloke. Regular calipers are fine and easier to sort out. Braking performance is no where near as important a consideration on a roadie as it is on an MTB.
The rumour mill pretty heavily suggests that Ultegra 6800 mechanical will soon be available with hydro discs as an option. This being the case, I’d have a good long hard think about it. 6800 looks awesome and is apparently a vast improvement over 6700. As a massive fan of 6700, this astounds me.
This is what I will be going for.
Custom Bicycles and Frames | Independent Fabrication | Steel, Titanium and Carbon Bike Frames
That looks about perfect to me, can’t wait to see what Keith builds up
