It’s heaps good, Degenkolb is a mad chiller. I found it to be similar to Chasing Legends but no Jens voigt and I actually got good insight from it.
Speaking of Netflix it’s been great for me using the one month trial. I just watched In The Loop and its fantastic. Group dynamics fascinate me even on the grandest scale.
After drinking whisky on Saturday night and a morning run to the airport, we came home and watched the original 1965 “Flight of the Phoenix”. Long and slow, with gradually oppressive tension, matching the oppressive landscape. Men being men, fighting for dominance and their lives and showing their multitude of inherent weaknesses. Death imagery everywhere, both metaphorical and real. Brilliantly acted, with a fair bit of bullshit thrown in, but nothing over the top. Perfect boyhood memory film for a Sunday.
Watched Kingsman last night, absolutely loved it.
Seeing Firth go from The Railway Man to fucking up a church full of racists in a non stop fighting sequence was insane.
My wife and I were pretty disappointed by it.
It was no where near as funny as a comedy should be.
For me it was good in one or two parts, but overall it wasn’t nearly as good as any of the movies/genres it was trying to rip off (Bond/Tarantino).
Watched T2 for the first time in ages.
Still remember my Dad smuggling myself and my brother into the cinema and then having a huge talk on the drive home about the possibility of nuclear war.
One of the films that really got me into the sci fi genre.
I enjoyed, but was surprised. I had only seen the trailer and thought it was boys own spy adventure, colour me surprised when the church scene happened. As they said in the movie, this is not that type of movie.
Discovered later it has the same director on Kick Ass, that would explain alot.
I can imagine in the imax theatre it would have been visually impressive. I only watched bits and pieces while I did other stuff around the house but it didn’t really appeal to me. I’m not much of a sci-fi fan to begin with though.
